Our local club held its first Hunter bench rest match of the year (100 meters). While my daughter (now 16 years old) has been competing with the "guys" for a few years in the Centerfire, and Rimfire matches she has racked up several 2nd place finishes, but today she got her first 1st place finish in the Hunter class. She was shooting a Tikka Hunter 243 with a VX-2 3-9 scope set on 6X. Her score was 227-2X out of a possible 250. My son and I shot in the Varmint class, and we finished 2nd and 3rd. I would also like to thank Dwayne and all the guys at the Lake of the Woods Gun Club for showing up and having a great day.

Funny how the burning of gunpowder can be fun, challenging, rewarding and unhurtful.
Good job pops for showing your kids how to handle and shoot firearms safely.

I swear Rod, it's always you guys in the top 3 of every class.
Be honest, no one else competes when you guys show up...?
All kidding aside, great job. You've got a lot to be proud of.

Congratulations young lady! Wow, that kind of performance makes me wonder how you'll shoot in a few more years once you hit your stride. Kudos to the entire family for the guidance, support, and opportunity that has made you a winner.

This is the sort of stuff we have to publicize. How can anyone (except the real nut jobs) see that and say guns are evil.

Good job and congrats to your daughter. My youngest daughter is pumped about shooting and these kind of stories really encourage her to get into the competition side of things too.
