nightforce shv

It is illuminated as well.

Nice.
So it looks like NIGHTFORCE SHV 4-14X56MM RIFLESCOPES ILLUMINATED $1,479.99 OR
NIGHTFORCE SHV 4-14X50MM F1 RIFLESCOPES ILLUMINATED $1,669.99
$200 for FFP

I really like these scopes.

hometown, I should take a look at your Nightforce one day, since you are in S'toon.

I would go f1 and by all means.

FFP and Mil/Mil are the way to go. I wouldn't consider a scope for a hunting/precision rig without these features.

So why mil/mil. I'm just getting used to moa.

If you shoot alone and you like MOA, then stick with it. Mils are slightly easier as they're a base of 10 (8.1 mils instead of 27 3/4 moa) and if your shooting partner(s) use Mils then you might as well all speak the same language. As long as the turrets and reticle match, either system is better than the old standard which was a mildot reticle with moa turrets...

I use moa/moa and see no benefit for me to switch to mil/mil for the type of shooting I do. The only real reason I can see to do so would be to "speak the same language" with the shooters that predominately use mil/mil if I were into competition shooting. Other than that, they're just different units of measure. I just use the reticle like a ruler, and it doesn't matter to me if that ruler is in inches or cm, as long as I can accurately measure my correction. I'm not implying that one unit is metric and the other is imperial by that example, because they're not.

Im thinking about that scope for my next rifle in 6.5. There does not seem to be much scope arround 2000$, its either 1500ish or 2500+$ which limits choices a bit. I wish the windage turret was just like the elevation turret on the F1model though

I mean an uncapped windage turret with the same size as the elevation one on the F1 model. The caped windage turret makes it look ''cheap'' although im sure its all right

Ok,t thought maybe something else was wonky. I did just see this however from Nightforce. "SHV models maintain waterproof integrity with their protective caps installed."

Also stumbled across this.

Q. Is this scope waterproof and fog-proof?

A. This rifle scope, and all NightForce rifle scopes, have been built to withstand the harshest, most rugged, and severe conditions possible – yes, they’re waterproof, fog-proof, and recoil proof. Before any rifle scope leaves the facility, it undergoes vigorous and mean processes to ensure quality and durability.

For water-tightness, the rifle scopes are placed in a pressure tank that’s designed to replicate the same conditions of being in 100 feet of water for one full day – 24 hours.

To ensure that it’s going to fully perform in the most harshest weather conditions, from ice-freezing temperatures to heat hotter than the Arizona desert, the scopes get even more abuse. They’re frozen in -80 degree Fahrenheit temperatures then heated to 160 degrees Fahrenheit, and are tested for functionality at these extreme temperatures – all within an hour. Now that’s brutal.
