Norinco np29+ nz85b+ np34 thoughts????

This is the most recent version of the Norinco NP29 that I recently finished working over. I am up to about $400.00 in parts/accessories over the price of the gun. I now have the parts and such that I wanted and I thoroughly enjoyed working it over

I only have experience shooting the NP85. A nice copy that shoots well.

I really love the Sig platform. If the NP34 is of similar quality to the NP85, I would say you are on to a good idea. Three great platforms, at a great price. You can always get the original later if you want.

Nice job, for sure! And you have a forged, not cast frame, which is hard to come by these days.

I've had a number of norincos. M93, 1911 a1, np85, 2x np34 rail and no rail. np58. None of them was a lemon but don't any of them anymore. Just prefer finer guns in life.

I sold my M&P pro core, Bersa Thunder and CZ duty P01 and P09 for NP22 and NZ85b. Shoot just as good if not better IMO. One thing I noticed is that it shoots everything I feed it including Barnaul 9mm ammo.

I dunno, I do not Own a Norc, ( have been tempted many times ) I understand the thought process of three guns instead on one, however one great gun and more ammo is also a good thing. I would purchase a Ford Cobra kit car over the real deal, as the price difference is staggering, guns........not so much. Guns for the most part are cheap, ammo and reloading supplies are not.

I have an NP-34, and out of the box it wasn't shooting straight...

For the longest time I thought it was me, then I had a friend shoot it. The dang thing shot to the right in great excess... So my babysitter at the time had some contacts through OST and hooked me up with a sig sight pusher. After making some minor adjustments all was well. She's not picky with ammo, and I'm able to hit the 25 yard gongs with ease.

Decent pistols for that price range!

I have several Norc's and Glocks in the same calibers.
9mm,40 S&W and .45
Nice thing about the Norc's is I shoot lead cast hand loads all day and no problems with ftf or fte...
Norc's are great for the low $.
A little cleaning up and polishing as others have said and good to go.
SFRC is a great place to get them.

The only Norc I ever regretted buying was a NP-18 (FEG Clone). The rest have all been golden. M305, CQ311, NP-29, 1911C, NP-22 to name a few.

I have the newest np29 on the market today and got 4 nork magazines with it. All i have done is debur the magazines and safety and it has worked perfectly. The trigger is actually quite light and crisp out of the box which impressed a couple other guys on the range. I reload for it and it works great with LRN but requires a hot load but due to the steel frame and hevy slide. This makes for really manageable recoil. The first few times i went shooting it preformed dead center POA at 25 yrds although ive found myself shooting low lately as i find it very hold sensitive.

The best thing about it is if something breaks there is so much out there for after market parts i have no worries.
As for norincos other models you get a lot for your money. A friend has the newest cz copy and its just as good.
Like i already stated for me it all comes down to support where will you be in 10 years when/if a part breaks? Hell i can even say the same thing for real cz's.

Im in the same boat have a family, didnt want to spend much but wanted to get into 3 gun. IMO for my purposes the np29 is as good as any other 1911. My only regret is not getting the chrome model. Plus you may find the grips leave something to be desired.

I have an older generation NP29 from Marstar.

It has been very reliable and feeds JHPs reliably in addition to ball. It is as reliable as my Gen 3 G17.

The only thing I don't like about it are the small sights.

I have done nothing to mine other than shoot it, clean it and added Crimson Trace grips.

I even had it on my ATC years ago and carried it a couple of times in the bush at work for fun.

A couple more things. First the aesthetics. Nothing to be desired. Some chromed are nice but blued are sometimes uneven. Im ok with mine and its not the reason I got it for. Second is sight adjustments. They're nearly impossible to move if you need to.

I am so glad i started this thread. You folks are awesome. I will for sure be ordering all three although i am still debating the np22 or the np34. I wanted to have three different platforms and may get into some light competition at some point. Out here in kelowna the outdoor ranges are all shut down due to the forest fires so i cant get out to use the rifles....and cant order the pistols till my rpal gets processed....frustrating to say the least. I may have to (choke) get a part time job to fill the time....retirement isnt.

I have an NP34...very decent gun, although the DA trigger action is somewhat heavy and rough. It's still acceptable tho'...it's the one 9mm pistol I own, and I like it so much I toy with the idea of obtaining an actual Sig P229. My Norc 1911 got a 'Norinco Prep' job at Armco that cleaned up the trigger and action generally, and a dovetail machined for the front sight at TacOrd. For a total of about $250 it turned into a very nice basic gun that would cost a lot more with a more respectable brand name on it.

Norinco guns are great if you want to try out a design/platform without sinking a lot of money into the experiment.

I have an NZ75 and an NP22 that I started my pistol shooting with and still have them ten years on.
Trust the pistols.
Get crazy and buy some hogue or fancy grips.
If you are comfy doing trigger smoothing and such you are already way ahead of most peoples' abilities.
Spend whatever you save on a couple thousand rounds of ammo and still stay happily married.

Or,,, buy a brand name thing and hide the bill from she who must not be named, then wait another year or so until either the anger fades or you can afford ammo or something else.

this is why I bought my NP22, wanted a Sig but didn't want to fork out the money until I knew how it fit me at the range, I am sure the Sig is a much better gun but this one does everything I ask it too so I don't even plan on upgrading it now.

Had NP58 for while, good practice shooter. Small springs did not last long, and it comes with spare de-cocker, and take-down pin tension spring, which does comes handy when needed.

Mags worked better than my old sig mags, at least the polymer follower does not worn out like old sigs did. And the lower worked 100% with SIG caliber X change kit.

The down side is POI can drift a lot after barrel warmed up. Wished the barrel can be made little better since the barrel/slide are only parts that not inter-changeable with Sig.

Can use better finish too.
