7.62x54R Surplus drying up?

7.62x54r is still used in Russian GPMGs. It is also a common hunting round there.

It is not technically a usual corrosive surplus from S&B or China, but I think commercial ammo will be available for years to come.

highly recommend stashing away a few crates of cheap 7.62x54, 7.63x39, and Chinese 556 and 762 while it is still around.

I still have 2 cases of the Portugese 8 mil that i Bought from old Lever Arms at $55 for a crate of 800....

Dealer who cannot be named has it.

Some time ago, I bought from him 2 crates of 7.62x54R, each 880 rounds, when they were $295/crate with free shipping. More recently, just to be on a safe side, I ordered one more but this time the price was higher and I had to pay for shipping. It came to 49 cents per round which is not so bad. Now they also have a good deal on 7.62x39mm (corrosive) with free shipping.

That's not bad. Marstar was the only other place I could find. A little cheaper at 440 spam can for $175.

Thanks for pointing that out

I heard those SVT's can be a little snobby in the gas chamber department. Still neat though

Don't ever buy one, you'll constantly be on the hunt for good cheap ammo to feed it. I rarely shoot my mosins because of it!

I have lots of mosins and Svt's love em both and honestly other than the odd stovepipe in my tula the SVT's chomp away whatever I feed them as well.

Looking forward to seeing what Tradeex has in the near future for 7.62x54R. I wouldn't mind another crate or two depending on prices.

I may end up with a crate or two regardless of the prices........

Where do you see cheap Chinese 556? I thought it was long gone.

I just scored two 440 rnd cans at a gun show for $225. Just over .25 rnd. Boils down to the old adage: Two things you never want to run low on in life - a$$wipe and ammunition. :)
