Who is buying a Type81?

yeah, watever. Anyone who thinks the SKS is anything but a well made and reliable semi-auto is deluding themselves. It's chrome lined, machined steel, built like a tank, and most of them are 3MOA or better with decent ammo.

If anyone made one commercially new today, it would be a $1000+ rifle to turn a profit.

But this T81 is no more an SKS than a VZ58 or XCR in 7.62x39 is an SKS. Apples and oranges - all they share is the calibre.

Who here would argue a .308 Ruger American is the same as a .308 Kimber? Or that a TNW M31 in 9mm is the same as a Glock 17?

What's exciting is that we all waited so long for production to even begin, and then wham! Completed by July 25th...seemed like it was taking forever...and now we could potentially have these in 4-6 weeks time...

A ####ty "sks" that you are still buying!?!??!

Im working on collecting every X39 rifle available in Canada. so yes I have one. Whats your point ?

And still almost a third the price of the crap tastic Tavor

So what ? My wife wanted a rifle that was small and compact so i got her a X95 and she loves it.

Very well put.
I like my SKS. It is a fun and dependable rifle. I am looking forward to having a 7,62 x 39 rifle that is not 65+ years old in AK-ish design.

Just to get things straight. These only take to 81 mags correct? AK mags are a no go. If that's the case it's a deal killer for me. I don't want another gun with a single retailer carrying them.

As much as I had fun saying ak mags would work. They are not compatible lol..

But if I keep asking the question they might fit all of a sudden

Rest easy... I'm sure Kodiak Defence or someone like that will make an AK magwell adaptor so you can use identical looking, but inferior, 5/30 AK mags with no BHO.

Magpul AK mags are cheap and Im sure ill be able to make them fit with a BFH.. LoL

Gen 1 are cheap and all plastic, with documented weaknesses in the design. Gen 2 with the metal reinforcements are the same price if not more expensive than the Type 81 mags. So it is a bit of a fallacy that they are cheap. Especially if you compare durability and cost together.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure TI is just the importer/distributor...I would imagine they will sell rifles to retailers as well...this is the case with many firearms...

I don't get why not taking AK mags is a deal breaker...it's not an AK so why should it take AK mags?

I'm gonna make an attempt to get one of my magpul AK mags to fit, just to see what's involved, but as said previously,I don't understand why AK mag compatibility would be a deal breaker.

LOL ^^^ would be even better if you had to mill out the mag-well to install a mag adapter :)

I already have a bunch of them, so its not like im gonna run out and buy some AK mags just to test them... I ordered 12 Type 81 mags due to how cheap they were,so I should be fine for a while.
