Hey guys,
I recently bought a dpms Oracle a couple months ago, and I'll be looking at upgrades here shortly.
What would be your top 3 upgrades?
My eventual goal is to turn this budget rifle into something that'll last a while, piece by piece. By next year I'll be shooting quite a bit, more then your average person.
So a longer lifespan/toughness, and overall accuracy is basically what I'm looking at right now.
Barrel, bcg, trigger?

Buy a decent optic and spend the rest on ammo till you figure out what you want out of your rifle then start modifying it based on what you use it for.

I should have clarified a bit,
Optics and magazines are already taken care of.
What I'm looking for is a gun that I can shoot the hell out of that'll last as long as possible. Eventually, I'd like to get into competition shooting but that'll be years away.

You already said it in the original post... Trigger, barrel, bolt

Of course upgrading those will likely cost you more than the rifle itself

Trigger
Muzzle brake
adjustable gas block

Great answers so far guys, thanks.
A bit off topic but when it comes to my gas block and a handrail (free floated or other), mine is encompassed by the front sight.
I've read somewhere (I think Reddit) that you shouldn't really alter that, so is that true? Or would I have to find a handrail that has room up front for that?

If you want to free float the barrel, the A2 sight will have to go or be cut down. Neither is a big deal. Low profile gas blocks can be found for around$50 or less. Or you can take a dremmel to the front post. There are handgaurds that accommodate the sight but I don't think they are true free float.

As a lefty, I'd throw on an ambi-safety and mag release.
Depending how it shot, and my intended used, the next after that would be either a full-floated hand guard, trigger or muzzle device.

Of course, absolutely nothing wrong with leaving it as is and just shooting the hell out of it...

As another posted you will be wasting money upgrading your oracle with quality parts. Shoot it until it dies then invest in a better quality rifle(likely just the upper).

I have to ask why you think it will be years before you compete? If you think you need to possess a certain skill level before competing you would be wrong. First time shooters are always welcome.

Buy a decent optic and spend the rest on ammo till you figure out what you want out of your rifle then start modifying it based on what you use it for.

This is very sage advice!!

Training, training and... oh yeah! Training!

As is this advice.

Do not cut the front sight. Remove it, sell it, and then use the money to buy a proper low profile block that will fit under a free float handguard. If you don't feel like taking the gas tube out of the front sight base, then leave it in there and replace the whole thing. It's really easy to do, won't cost you much more than your time, and the front sight can go to someone who will use it as it was intended.

Agreed, this is where I am at.
