Who is buying a Type81?

Chinese AKMs are very highly regarded. They are not common in the USA right now due to import restrictions, but vintage polytech AK's sell for big money in the states and are sought after models.

is the high end reason a collectible one or reality?

look the price there for a russian or chinese sks ....

FWIW, the current armies of Afghanistan and Iraq, as they re-arm, are favoring the chinese AKM. It's actually one of the better made AKM's.

People like the Yugo and Russian MILLED AK's but for AKM's, the Chinese is top tier - as it should be, they've made more of tham than anyone else and have had lots of opportunity to get good at it ;)

When all we could get were Chinese SKS's here, everyone wanted Russian ones and they sold for a premium and were regarded as the best. Now we are flooded with Russian and everyone wants Chinese because they are somehow now the best SKS's? Weird...
The grass is always greener...Chinese guns are collectable in the US because they haven't been imported in decades, not because they are the cats ass.
Also sought after collectable doesn't mean best made, most durable, accurate etc yada yada. Albanian SKS are prized, and the biggest POS SKS ever made. Yugo's are thought of highly, rougher made then Chinese...at least all the ones I've had or handled were, and most of those Yugo's were new.
The best made Chinese rifles were in the 50's & early 60's, when they were made with Russian guidance, after that the quality dropped off significantly. Their own designs were craptacular after that at first, and the multiple redesigning of their standard issue rifles every decade (or less) is either a make work project for "the people" or a sign of how disposable and low quality their stuff really is.
The Russians ran with the same design for the last 60+ years because it works and works well. The US have run the same design for the last 50 years for the same reasons. The Chinese have gone back to the drawing board 4 or 5 times in the last 50 years? Not a good track record...

Yugo aks were among the highest rank for speaking on shooting it ... chinese the lowest. so to each is own ... im not a specialist but i had to play with some ...

Hmmm, anyone think the lab is going to take a long hard second look at the Type 81? If they follow us here and read about the close similarities to a certain prohibited rifle that we keep talking about on here along with what a few of the magazines articles are sharing, this wont be a fkn good thing !

No as it isn't an where close to a variant (just like a VZ58 isnt) so they made the CORRECT decision on allow g it instead of some more BS like the Ruger 10/22 mags

It isn't an AK and as long as the receiver isn't a converted auto there is nothing to worry about.

Comparing Poly with CZ is Olympic trolling already. Saying it's better... your troll-power should be used to power Kim's ballistic missiles so they can reach Hollywood.

Blackvoid... Really..?? The design of the rifle is proven.. I have shot both the CZ 858, many sks, and had a chance to shoot the type 81 some years ago, which we put it to the test. It was an excellent design and rifle to sum up, and I am sure Poly will stick to that and produce an excellent rifle. I havent purchase one yet, but will do soon and I suggest you do the same..

I never said Type81 design is bad.

My comment was that CZ is in the same league as FN and HK, they have a very long gun-making tradition and quality is superb. You can pretty much buy with confidence.

Chinese firearm manufacturing is very young and while they are making dependable firearms they are all derivatives or copies (besides the last 20 years). Also characteristic of communist QC is the lack of attention to details. We just don't know how good is the fit, finish and QC in this batch. It's a lottery with Chinese.

I honestly hope it is fine, as I ordered one too.
