Saved from the smelter

I rescued these today from going to the RCMP.:eek1:
My wife had said no more until after the kids weddings but when she heard the price and that they were headed for the smelter she was like "and you haven't taken the guy cash yet? Why?" She's a keeper and so are these.;D

Model 29 .44 Mag on the top and Model 17 in .22LR on the bottom.

Why were they headed for the smelter?

Buddy is 70 years old and hasn't shot them in years. His kid didn't want them and he wanted to get rid of his restricted, considered them a liability.
He lives literally 50' from the RCMP station and was going to take them over and turn them in before he moved.
