Wasn't a great idea so I bought a replacement SKS for a deal that I could not pass up.

Introducing my new beer can blaster. A 1994 commercial made Chinese SKS.

She's dirty, rusty, and a little worn around the edges. The gun didn't come with a magazine so I had to buy one. But all in with the cost of a new Tapco magazine came to a total for $125.

Milled the bolt at work. This is a must do upgrade for all SKS with detachable magazine. Just don't do it with an angle grinder like I've seen chumps do on youtube. Yea it works but it looks like bubba McGee did it. Find a buddy with a mill and if you can't find someone with that, use a dermal. I'm lucky enough that my job requires me to use a mill. I'm actually thinking about doing SKS bolt mods for people here on CGN. Haven't decided yet but I know a few people have already asked me to do theirs.

have same stock-I think it is early CHOATE stocks, or may be generation zero ATI? mine says: "patent pending"

Looks Good- Wayy back, my First Rifle was a Russian SKS, I put in the same stock, & had a removable mag. 25 years later, still have one or two in those set ups & a few un-molested. Got a beater, she got the Bolt Mod, Lug removed & she is chopped to 18.6 {still retains the Original front sight!} Next is the sevensixtwo or similar system, Lotsa Fun for sure-

I can actually attest to your milled bolt. I have one of yours and it runs very well. Did you re blue the barrel ? The second pic looks better

It's the camera angle and lighting. You can see there is still some rust on the bayonet assembly. It is well worn in person but the bore is perfectly fine.

My next plan is to remove the front sight/bayonet assembly, cut, crown, thread to 18.6", then reinstall the front sight with bayonet part cut off. Install muzzle break.
