Hey guys~until fairly recently, there was a seller (Weimajack?) selling some nice, premium-grade SKSs. If memory serves, there were unissued, non-refurbs in exceptional condition. My only SKS until now has been a shooter-grade, '54 Russian with a birch stock, nice bluing...but pretty ordinary. I'm now contemplating something a little snazzier. :) What I'd prefer IS a laminate-stock, un-molested Russian specimen, chrome-lined barrel...ideally, still in cosmoline with a clean mag pinning job. (rod under follower ideally) Thought I'd check the EE and find a couple, but no dice. Anyone know of any sellers that have one?

Appreciate any help. A gun in the GTA from a seller with a perfect trader rating preferred, but OK to discuss shipping . Thanks for taking a moment to reply.

Yes Weimajack was the seller for those but ran out of 'em quite awhile back now. I was lucky enough to pick up one when he still had a good selection; do see them occasionally on the EE but they seem to sell quickly (been thinking about adding another myself).

Thanks Bill. Let me know if you see one come up for sale. Rather, the second one you see come up for sale. :)

Good luck finding a Russian non refurb ANd unissued, we used to be able to get NOS Chinese sks and Yugo sks still in the goo, but would love to see/have an unissued non refurb Russian sks, I bet there are some, deep in a cave in Russia! However you can get some pretty nice ones that folks believe are unissued!

I think keeping an eye on the EE might be your only chance at an unrefurbed one. Took a chance recently on a matching number one off the EE. Showed up in rough shape covered in rust. Sent it back and bought a laminated one from Trade ex. Definitely a refurb but in awesome condition.

This.
Personally never handled a what I am convinced was an unissued non-refurb Soviet SKS.
Some of the 'B-grade' imports from Molot appeared to have been non-refurbed, but definitely issued (for a while they were coming in with very fine, compressed, sand all through the action, some of those appeared to be non-refurbs).
But anything that came out of military permanent storage (so called supergrade ones), without heavy import markings, all had some evidence of refurb on them, even if no obvious stamps. Period-wrong milled/stamped parts, trigger groups, firing pins, etc.
On top of that, the laminate stocks that appear on 99% of them are of the 1960s and later laminate vintage (like buttstocks on AK74s), 40s and 50s laminate stocks had much thinner grain and from afar look like wood stocks.

Thanks for the replies guys...much appreciated. I'm clearly no authority on these things. :) I'll keep checking the EE, as I have the $ ready to roll! :)

I had 6 non-refurbs of various years, including a mint '53 Izhevsk, that I really regret selling. I still have a very nice 1954 Tula from the early 2008 IZH import... as-issued and non-refurbished...it was weimajack's personal SKS. That one is going in my coffin with me. I also have a "super grade" 1952 mild refurb in a nice laminate stock. It's a real beauty... another keeper. Contrary to public opinion, there aren't too many SKS's of any quality on EE. The odd good one does come up, so check EE regularly and jump on it... and don't hesitate if it's a measly $100 more than the going rate!

They are out there. You see them less on the EE now but they come up. I have a few I'll likely sell at some point but I know I can't replace them if I do. I sold some earlier this year that I regret.

They do come up on the EE - but not that often, and they dont last long, so paintently checking the EE often is your best bet.

I regret selling a few of the nice ones I had from weimajack

What a difference a few years makes. Where are all the tards saying that sks are garbage guns, they made millions, they’ll always be around, etc.

Not selling any of mine, that’s for sure!
