I have always wanted a CC C8CQB for my CC collection. I have seen one on the EE but just didn’t have the means to purchase it from the member here, so I am going to build one. Parts I am going to need will be upper receiver, barrel assembly, BCG, CH and furniture. I see the hardest parts to acquire will be upper and barrel assy. Well last night I received one of those pieces. A CC stripped upper has now been added to my collection thanks to NMI. Since a CC CQB barrel will be next to impossible to find I have been looking at the DD 10.3 with FSB. Here in lays the problem. The CC upper does not have M4 cuts (I think it is a C7 upper) and the DD barrel uses A4 (enhanced M4) cuts. I know that M4 barrel to standard upper is “ok” but my OCD is not happy with me. I don’t know if I should consider a different stripped upper with M4 cuts and sell the CC or just build it anyways. Help me please with opinions, if you have OCD when building you will understand why I am racking my brain.

Side note: If anyone has a C8CQB upper, I have the Danish and this stripped upper plus cash to trade.

The feed ramp is the least of your worries. CC barrel is shorter than 10.3 and have come with and without bayo lug.

The odd one does pop up on the EE, but not too often.

i kinda figured there would be variances in the upper but do you (or anyone) know if it is different years built or different configurations for different forces?

It will depend on the contract. The Canadian Forces has never used M4 feedramps where other countries or LE agencies may request it. Canada started with Weaver rails, other countries want Picatinny. It really depends which variant of the C8CQB you want to replicate.

Diemaco innovation created the first true factory flat top upper receiver with machined Weaver rail. The US Picatinny Arsenal studied the design, tweaked it a little and created their 1913 Picatinny rail standard.

Holy crap, some of you gents seem to have a fair amount of knowledge on CC/D rifles. Leg sir you are gonna make me go down the rabbit hole, I have a lot more research to do. Can you tell me this... was the barrel from CC/D on a C8CQB always 10” or again the contract could call another spec?
Leg, you mention bay lug. Was there a standard FAB lug/no lug that our troops used?

I’m not well versed on the C8CQB but I do believe that Canada switched from 10.0 to 11.5”, at least for the CP guys.

Some are mid weight, some government profile. Some have bayo lugs and others do not. Canada had the Smith Vortex on theirs while others had a plain old A2 birdcage like the UKs L119.

I saw your rifle COD in another post. Gonna pick yer brains again. On the pictured rifle above... 2 questions, was the crown stamped onto the FSB and what type were they A1 or F?

Granted there will be ones with shot out barrels but there are also collectors out there, CODfan is one of them who have awesome rifles and impressive collections that will still be pristine condition. The problem then becomes what would it take for those collectors to part with them. I would sell my arm, leg or first born child for COD's rifle. Anyone need a kidney...... ; )
