Interesting choice by Ruger. That is a lot of gun for the 10mm. You'd think a 5 (or 6?) shot 10mm in the GP frame would make a little more sense, but I'm sure that SRH will be a very nice shooter.

Yes the SRH may be a bit of overkill, the GP100 in 10mm would be a tidier package - very happy with my GP100 MC, a 10mm version would make for a nice pair lol.

Yes a 10mm GP (along the lines of new 5 shot 44 special) would be hard to pass up. My 10mms seem to be multiplying!

Wish they made the SRH with the SSK mods - flush bull barrel and top rib. Those were neat looking - minus the mag-na-port.

Can't see it offering anything that can't already be done with a .357 Mag or .44 Mag. But I guess choice is good.

Beauty is in the eye in the beholder. I love the look of a beefy frame and chamber without the weight of a full underlug.

Beefyness where it counts. My guess isthe 10mm is to wide a cartridge for the GP 100 without losing rounds. They have to keep enough steel to contain the pressure. The GP100 is perfect for .357. .40 of the 10mm probably makes the cylinder walls too thin.

Might also have been a marketing decision. The 10mm having a beefy rep, being a better fit with the SR rep for bringing the beef.

I can't imagine any reason why someone would buy a 10mm over a 44-Magnum.

Flat top and with a 38-40 cylinder to go along with it instead of .40 and I'd be tempted.

Interesting. Just checked out the 38-40 out of curiosity and didn't realize that Ruger made a 38-40 / 10mm Blackhawk before. Probably an uber rare find these days.

Agreed on the SRH. I can resist the SRH but would have a harder time if they made a GP.

If it was a Gp or regular redhawk I'd have a hard not buying one. Not a fan of the SRH

Why would they not just build the gun on the Redhawk platform? I assume the Super was chosen to allow for mounting a scope on the gun for hunting. Maybe I just answered my own question.

Hard to say why they chose the Super Redhawk, but there is no reason they couldn't make a scope mountable Redhawk like the Hunter models.
I agree that the GP 100 would have been a better fit size wise.

I love the 10mm....but I can't quite wrap my head around why one would stick a cartridge that is essentially a rimless .357 Magnum into a wheelgun of that size.
