I am reading Kyle Lams "Stay in the Fight" and I was following along with my house pistol, a Gen 3 G17. It is equipped with a crappy NcStar 200 lumen light and green laser. I think I deserve a better quality light for my house handgun so I am looking for opinions and recommendations.

I would prefer +500 lumens because I am a more is better kind of guy when it comes to lights even though this is for a pistol indoors.

Reliability and ease of use are my most important factors.

I'm thinking $450 for the price limit.

Candidates so far are:

Streamlight TLR-1 HL Weaponlight 800 lumens

Surefire X300U-A Ultra WeaponLight with Rail-Lock Mounting System 600 lumens

X300

My recommendation is go with a 200 lumen.

500 is way too bright for indoors.
You will be blinding yourself with the reflection off the walls.

I was between a TLR-1 and a X300 and was told by people with real world experience that " A Streamlight is a good light, but I wouldn't bet my life on it..."

Olight PL 2 or mini are excellent choices also.
1200 lumens on the PL2 and 400 on the mini.
Olight shouldn't let you down either, they are solid.

I'm with Daver_II and echo his caution re: blinding yourself, especially if your interior walls are not painted dark. We run a night shoot annually, and you'd be shocked at how badly a weaponlight blinds you off white or light grey walls...
