Just wondering what one of these would be worth at this time. Offered one to purchase from a family friend. Half mag, half octagon, crescent butt plate, checkering on forearm and butt stock, very nice wood, engraving on the receiver. Excellent shape, no box, 30-30, rebounding hammer and cross bolt safety. Thanks in advance.

Your model originally retailed for $811 when new.

Calgary Shooting Center has a 1 of 300 Swiss American commemorative "new in the box with paperwork" listed for $1550 (still available) and they sold a "new in the box with paperwork" 1 of 250 7/30 Waters WACA commemorative for about $1200.

At 1 of 12,000 there is bound to be quite a few others available out there. There is a couple on Gunbroker "listed" @ $499 and $799 with zero bids on each if that tells you anything...

From what I've seen, it doesn't appear that commemoratives are worth much more than plain 94's, so I'd venture in the $500 range if it is as new.

As has been pointed out, 1 of 12000 isn't rare by any stretch. No box or paperwork detracts from "collector" value, not to mention if it's been shot or even cocked.
As a shooter, $500 is a good starting point for value.

I have never understood this. You would think it would cost more to make them.. gold plated , engraved, nicer wood.... I have 5 of them and never fired. Might as well start shooting them.

I have a friend who collects vinyl records who goes by this rule:

Anything made and sold as a collector's item isn't one.

But, there are people that collect these guns. If a used 94 is 450-500 and a new Japan built 94 is 1000+ these should be between. Build quality is less than the Japan but still OK for a 30-30 JMHO.

Kinda like buying " limited edition" plates, market is probably saturated. Some though, like the RCMP commemoratives have more interest. lack of a box affects value significantly.
