Marlin GBL & G model

I have been trying to find the weight of both the GBL and 1895 G in 45/70. Looking at the Marlin website it says the G is 7lbs and the GBL is approximately 7lbs. I have learned that "approximately" can mean a lot of things. Good old google is giving different weights as well, anywhere from 7lbs to just shy of 8 lbs. is there someone in the CGN community that has a Marlin GBL that can weigh it so we can get a honest answer.

1895GS 7 1/2 lb on my kitchen scale.
This is a stainless laminated gun with the full length mag tube, & pic rail. Completely stock.
 
8.8 lbs as shown.

That sounds more like the 1895SBL, the GS is the Stainless, straight grip Walnut stocked 2/3’s mag.

Yes, there would be little to no difference.

I don’t have a G or GS at the house right now to weigh it, but from what I recall they're just a hair under 7lbs.
 
Off the the LGS this week to look over some of the new Marlin GBL's in person. This may turn out to be a expensive trip if the fit and finish is as nice as I have been hearing lately

Thanks Slamfire, I was at Cabelas over the holidays and asked if I could see the GBL and cycle the action but was told NO as it is against store policy (all firearms must always remain locked til leaving the store) did you have the same experience at Cabelas? If I can't cycle the action I will not purchase the rifle

100% why I won’t buy a rifle from Cabelas......
Especially the attitude given when asked, like you’ve asked them to perform an impossible task.

Their store, their policy = my money, spent elsewhere.

I went to Sail as well and was looked at like I had 3 heads when I asked if I could cycle the action. That was the final straw for me at Sail. Every time I go in that store I have a bad experience. I finally learned my lesson and will never shop there again.
