PAL Wait Time

Try asking for your forms via their online contact form. I had similar issues, having taken my exam early October and not having heard back until I actually asked the folks who ran my PAL/RPAL course to follow up with Orillia. They confirmed that several people from my class had contacted them with similar concerns. A few days after they spoke with Orillia they finally responded to the form submission I put in on their site and emailed me a copy of my stamped results which I then faxed to the RCMP.

Quite honestly it just sounds like someone was sitting on the forms or they found themselves lost in the shuffle or .. something.

Good luck!

Do you have the link to their site?

Been 11 months now...

So i did my course beggining of Jan, passed 100/100 written/practical, sent my forms off.
Received feb 10
Information was requested. Faxed on about the 13 and onto initial processing
Nothing for about a month maybe more. Called in twice to ask if anything else was out of sorts, both times All i got was a “it just takes time, lots of backlog” meanwhile my best friend put his in same day and had already received his.
Anyway about mid late may it completed initial processing,
Fast forward 7 almost 8 months, and about 4 Calls to Alberta’s cfo and all i can get out of them is “it’s in its final stage, be patient”
So as i approach the end of my 11th month of waiting I’m wondering if there’s any thing anyone knows about i can do to get some real answers, or should i consider getting a lawyer?? Never had to deal with this before. Kind of makes me sad it’s this difficult to do things the legal and responsible way :/

Here's my timeline so far in my BC experience.

Completed 2-day course November 4th and 5th 2017: Got the results on the spot woo!

Application for PAL and RPAL sent November 9th: Poor timing since it was going to be a long weekend which would lag delivery times a bit but should be all good.

Application was received November 20th: I did not send it via registered mail and found out this date after it appeared online

Application has completed initial processing January 4th 2018: I was notified of a charge to my card so I checked the application status online and it is up.

Took 31 business days for it to appear online after being received which is pretty good by the looks of things. I'm going to give them a call next week to see if there's anything they need from me and my references to call. Figured I shouldn't pounce on it right away after it's made its way into the pile.

I have read on this forum that (and this may be province dependent?) one can call provincial ombudsman (since it is at provincial CFO) to complain. Others have stated that they called or visited their MP's office and things magically happened. I am at 5 month mark in Ontario, waiting on CFO to complete the process. DK why so long. I have learned patience...

I completed my CFSC & CRFSC back in December and still waiting for the paperwork to be sent to me. Apparently it takes six weeks until I get it back. My question is, can I mail my PAL application then send the course papers when I receive it? Would that speed up the process or perhaps just delay it even more?

Call them and ask, they are pretty friendly. I would doubt that they would process without all the requested documents as they seem to delay applications for all sorts of reasons.

Surprised that you had to wait for your paperwork. For both my pal and rpal courses they sent us home with the completed paperwork. (Alberta)

Ontario has a different rules.
I have red that people would send in the app and when the stamped result is received then they just fax it in.
Some would gain time this way some won’t.
It is all hit and miss with the license process.
Mine was within the 45 days (issued on Dec 23rd)but due to the holidays, it was only printed out on JAN 02 and mailed out in the 3rd.
Others has waited for 11months or plus and needed to send in letter to get things going.

So Not sure what the process are....Eg.if you had background check and it is in the system, then is faster?
I have seen people mentioned this point, it might have some true in it, if you are doing volunteering for kids, school would ask you to request background check and it is in the system for a year.

Maybe we should (if we did not have) to do a background check before sending in outlet app or even before doing the courses.

Wish you luck!!!!

How are you guys finding out its been received? and what website are you using to check the status?

That link will also take you right to the page it's looking for. Be prepared for a long wait... I put my application in the mail on Dec. 5th, and it still hasn't showed up. Another poster from my Province, who's name I can't recall, mentioned it taking 40 days for them, just for that portion.

What I don't understand is why it takes 4-6 weeks until I receive my stamped report to attach to my PAL application. It was marked on the spot so I know I passed but it still had to be sent to FSESO administration office.

Send your application in without it. Fax it when it arrives. I did that and mine was approved same day. Saved myself weeks of waiting.
