Shotgun reloading practice

True, but you can buy the tools to make duds cheaper than buying the duds.

If you don’t reload shotgun shells suggest you do yourselves a favour and spring for a box of Brownells dummy rounds. They’re $30 usd for a box of 25 and am sure you’ll find some other Brownells items you’ve been eyeing to add to your order to justify their modest shipping charge.

Initially tried to save a few bucks and make my own dummy rounds using hot glue and a wooden dowel. First DIY shell got stuck in chamber and was a pain to remove. As soon as I did i tossed my homemades and sprung for the Brownells dummy rounds like I should have in the first place.

Why not keep it in Canada?
(and possibly avoid the sh1tstorm that could occur if someone at CBSA or Homeland mistakenly thinks the rounds are real)

www. dummy ammo .ca

That's where I got mine a year or so ago.

Due to the capacity restrictions on semis, I have 5 shotguns placed around my house that I use for my drills.
I like doing quad loads on the move so I load one, drop it, pick up the next one, quad and drop etc.

Its a bit taxing on the hardwood floors, I've broken one stock and bent a few barrels, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

On the plus side, I now have a lot of spare Benelli parts

Luv yer posts Big Guy. Not only do you enlighten but you routinely bring me a good laugh:)

I don’t care what everyone else says, I like you:)

I've got to say guys, I was quite confused when I first started this thread. When I read the title and started into it I thought you were asking who practises reloading shotgun shells throughout the winter, like the actual ammo, but not actually using the real components like powder and lead shot, etc.

I was completely confused as to why you would waste the time to practise making fake ammo when you could just make the real thing and have it ready for the summer when you needed it, it's not like they'll go bad over the winter.

It wasn't until I got 6 or 8 posts in that it dawned on me that you were talking about loading the rounds into your shotgun, not just filling hulls up with corn cob and pencil eraser primers and crimping it to keep your reloading skills up to par. It's been a long day...

Lol I often confuse the intent of threads as well. A quick check of the sub-forum they're in usually clears things up.

(This being the action shooting competitions sub-forum, and not the reloading one :) )

Reloads? Reloads? We don't need no stinking reloads!

Well....why don't you tell us your rigorous shotgun reloading training regime.

If it involves beer and various hot sauces....I can tell you from experience, you are doing it right.

So far, I loaded up 100 dummy rounds and boxed them up. No actual reloading practice yet. Since, i have consumed several beer, whisky, and some sweet Dutch drink. Over the next week, I have plans of consuming large meals and more of the previously mentioned beverages but do not have any reloading practice scheduled.
This is why my reloading is mediocre at best.

And yet no mention of hot sauce....I think I see your problem....

I didn't notice the sub forum until afterword, the thread just caught my attention as I was scrolling through new posts

If this year is anything like last year, i think ill practice by throwing a bunch of shells randomly in the grass and practice finding and loading from there.
