My two are typical molot bbq refurb. Gritty action and rusty, sandy return spring. These are not the sks previously sold for $299 and covered in cosmoline. These are not worth $299. I feel they mixed in a batch of low quality sks and sold them all under same description. One of the stocks has a big chunk of wood missing just behind the trigger group. I would not have purchased if it was made more clear what we were going to get. Still ok for a beater shooter non the less.

Ya same here. Gritty action, bbq paint, dinged up stock... oh well tough to complain for the price lol

Maybe ill bubba it up into something special

I placed my order almost a week ago, got a confirmation email and the order went through on my credit card. But when I log in there's nothing under order status. Tried emailing and calling with no answer. Invoice 32263

If anyone gets a non serialized stock and is planning on tapcoing there sks can you pm me, maybe we can work something out

I agree that the one i got with a fresh chunk of wood missing is maybe $150. $209 for a shooter would be ok if i wanted a shooter. Their advertising lead one to believe these were once $299 sks's, which would suggest closer to a blued premium refurb covered in cosmoline. What most of us got are typical Canadian tire, cabelas shooter grade molot refurbs. Sneaky Sneaky...

Yup. I wouldn't have even paid $150 for the POS I got. Utter garbage. Makes the CT junk look quite good.

I would have.. But we were told they were all blued.. Didn't see the need
Usually when they have the original blueing they would have been in decent shape..

Yea you're right. They said that all the ones they came across so far (at the time) were blued. It also says "HG" on my invoice which I'm guessing means high grade..

Silly question, but how can you tell if it's BBQ or blued

Blued is a smooth factory finish on the metal.

BBQ paint is exactly that, when the receiver/barrel is haphazardly spray painted to cover the wore off factory blueing and rust.

The one I got is BBQ'd and definitely looks the part. Mag is pinned nicely though. Obviously customer expectations were poorly managed for this sale.

I bought my 1st SKS 10+ yrs ago. You could find real beauties for under $200 with a bit of looking around. Currently, the prices are up a bit, but from my observation, the quality has gone way down. Of course, that’s to be expected.
I feel for you guys who are disappointed, but I wouldn’t expect much for a $200 SKS these days. The good news is that you can clean them up and make them very pretty. This was the trashiest SKS I ever owned. It cleaned up very nicely. Great shooter, but never a collector.
