Savage officially suck!!
I recently bought a rifle knowing that the bottom bolt release didnt function, with the intention of a quick swap of the broken part and I'd be sitting on a safe, quality long range shooter. its just past 6 months out of warranty so theres no option for a free repair. Looks like the arm that woild make contact with the release button snapped clean off the sear so the only way to remove the bolt is to take it out of the
accustock.
I called Savage customer service to purchase the replacement part and they won't sell the part to me...nooo sir, they will only sell it to a licensed gunsmith. WTF!? Can you say customer service? I don't want to jump through hoops to have to obtain a replacement sear and to be honest, their attitude has annoyed me to the point that where I don't know if I want to own a Savage. Their customer aftercare sucks. Why bother to build and sell a rifle that has such restrictions on small parts and not look after the customer? It's just not cricket!!
Has anyone heard of this part failing or had a hands on success at a fix for it? I'm no tig welder so I'm thinking that maybe some epoxy and a steel shim would work? What say you with more knowledge on these things than I?
