And that stamping on the barrel,, "GENESEO"?

I think both of these facts would identify this one as a commercially made M1 Garand made by Springfield Armory Inc (the maker of the M1A), and not one of the US Navy converted M1 Garands.
It would also appear that the seller may have his story mixed up, because these commercially made M1 Garands were made in the 1980s, and not the 1960s, and his father couldn't have got it from CMP in the 1970s.

Anyway, still a nice example of a 308 Garand, but not an authentic government made one.

Best advice is buy in person... a lot of Bubba guns made over the years. That or buy from a reputable source like my FIL billybob.

I agree. we have some great Canadian sellers and builders. I bought a great Breda M1 from Billybob a few years ago and he included targets and handload advice!

There is a IHC Garand on Ellwood Epps sight for $2199. Somewhat more rare. I paid $750.00 for mine a few years back so I'm thinking it was a good investment.

Well Exchanged sucks, Just checked my Visa, 2100$ US comes to 2700 CDN... grosss....

8-10 weeks wait for the build + Export :-( Id say a good 3 months before I get my hands on it.

But I did add the 30-06, G.I. Contour, Chrome Moly, Match Quality, FA by Criterion - CHROME-LINED

and in good CGN fashion, I will have to find a way to hide this from my wife ! Wait a minute, we only have 1 bank account and Visa... So I guess shes will know. ... hahahhahahahah

Will this new Garand shoot normal 30-06 or must it still use the reduced Springfield load?
