Hi all.

I'm in the market for a bolt action .223.

I'm looking for something that's suitable for both target shooting at the range and taking down coyotes from 0-200 yards.

My budget is 0-1200 including optics.

What are your suggestions?

Browning X-Bolt Composite Stalker, or Hunter model,... nice light accurate rifles,.. the stock on the composite stalker has the Dura-touch coating, it is soft feeling and very grippy,.. price should fit your budget.

Savage Axis - buy 2

Added benefit you can't really hurt them, drop it ....meh, scratch it ......meh, gets a little rusty from the rain or snow ....meh

Either get the accutrigger or do the fix on the old one(works great for me)

People seem to like the Remington 783. Imho I would take one over a Savage Axis. If I got a Savage I would try the Hog Hunter

There's a ton of options out there, possibly the greatest selection in all firearmdom (is that a word? Who cares, this peoplekind likes it!)

Not saying this is a better option than others previously mentioned but I have found the Savage 10 to be capable of excellent accuracy but in the heavy barrel they can get quite muzzle heavy.

A gun that was for sale everywhere a couple years ago but seems to have fallen off the earth is the Stevens 200. A fine rifle but you will have to get used to a blind mag. If you can find one they are usually reasonable, leaving lots of your budget for glass and rings.

Howa lightning with the Hogue stock. Mine is capable of hitting magpies at 250 yds. Unless you would like a DM then either Browning or Tikka.
