DAR22 or DLASK parts and do it yourself

Dlask receiver and a 12.3” volquartsen carbon fibre charger barrel. Makes for one super light quick pointing rifle. Adding a Trijicon RMR to it. Gone be saweet

I find this rifle inspiring.
I love it really. To make it my own, I would use a Kidd barrel and a VX3 Leupold 6.5-20
I just need the correct lottery numbers.

I used to use the Kidd buffers, but have changed to 1/4" delrin rod and find them much easier to install.
Good luck with your new rifle.

Ever try the Canadian-made Tuffer Buffer? h ttp://www.tufferbuffer.com/ + h ttps://www.triggershims.com/tuffer_buffer.html .

I leave the trigger group in and simply push the steel bolt stopper out and then slide the tuffer buffer in (after lubing it slightly with CLP). Doesn't get much easier.

Brownells even carries them and they got to the top of the list here: h ttps://www.gunmann.com/best-1022-bolt-buffers/ .

Canadian made to go with the Canadian Dar-22! (And very likely the bolt buffer offered by Dlask itself: https://dlaskarms.com/products/dlask-dar-22-10-22-red-buffer .)

the Kidd ones are soooooooooo much better.
i always had a wrestling match with those rubber ones since i clean my guys on a regular basis.
the Kidd ones ya just slide the inner pin out and the bugger tub comes out easy.

I started out using the Tuffer Buffer, I know lots of people swear by them, however I found they would bend rather than go into the second receiver hole and were frustrating to install. Then I switched to the Kidd which were much easier to install, however I started having some issues with the soft outer tube distorting and causing cycling issues. The delrin rod is stiff enough to be easy to install and I get no bending or distortion.

Love my dlask builds also. I would suggest getting them to assemble a rifle to your specs. The 3 I have had assembled all work perfect and are very accurate .The one I assembled from parts is being a bit of a jerk and not cooperating all the time, although it is insanely accurate. They will warranty a factory build(pretty sure)Not so much when you put together their parts.

been out shooting a stock ruger target model over the last couple of days - it's pretty good - but something is up. I thought it was the stock, it failed the paper test (Houge overmold) So i put it in a hunter X22. I'll clover leaf 3 shots then get 2 flyers that open the group up. To be honest I stay on the trigger way too long and pull it too quickly. I should take a break between shots just a quick breather. I get fatigued but to be honest it is still under 0 and I wasn't dressed quite right for it.

It does shoot tighter than the other stock 10/22s i've seen at 50 yards. So far it is not the pin point accuracy I'm looking for. But I had scope issues, (sited 3 different scopes in before I settled) and I wonder if the parallax on the one I did go with, even though it has A/O - well I need more trigger time to tell really. The gun is still a baby. 300 rounds over 2 days, from new.

I think I will have Dlask put the action and barrel together for me for sure. I have hunter X22 stock coming for it. Getting excited to really get the order going - as always just waiting on funds to come together. I figure by Monday I'll be ready to (week tomorrow).

Really appreciate the advice and experience posted. It's helped. Made me change my mind on a few things.

All you have to do is take a fingernail emery board and gently take off the sharp edge on one end.

Seems Dlask only has 20'' KIDD barrels in stock - is this the optimum length for maximum accuracy? I was reading somewhere with .22LR you don't need more than 16.25'' of barrel to obtain maximum accuracy and velocity.

Dr Gunner, admin on Rimfire Central, mentioned his Kidd buffer's softer outer tube chipping and having to repair it with crazy glue (this, of course, was after thousands of rounds). I'd rather stick with the Tuffer Buffer's poly tube. As 45CAT observed, taking the edge off one end very lightly helps with the install if you're having trouble. Lubing it also does the trick.

I have a 20 inch KIDD barrel on my 10/22. I don't know about it being the optimum length, but it is incredibly accurate.
My rifle does have a good heft, but I do shoot with it offhand. I used to shoot 3 position with Anschutz rifles so I don't mind the weight.
I added a Volquartsen forward blow compensator to tame that vicious recoil:)
I would not hesitate to to get another 20 inch barrel or order a 16.5 fluted barrel to shave of a bit of weight in another project.
My scope choice is a Bushnell Elite 6500. It is a 2.5-16X50 with adjustable parallax & 30mm tube.
I use Burris signature zee rings, The plastic inserts protect my investment.
I am looking forward to doing a lot of 50 yard shooting this summer. I hope to complete the 50 yard challenge.

I was in the same position in the 20" or 16.50" , ended up going with the 20" since I didn't want to wait for the others to magically come into stock... I agree with Sakomam that it is deadly accurate on the range. Either one is a little heavy to be carrying anywhere else, so I'd recommend the 20 too. I've got a Dlask 16.5 on my PWS build, It too is very accurate, but if you want a Kidd barrel and don't want to pay to have one specifically imported for you, get the 20" and don't look back!
