A recent discussion about the reclassification of the SA and VZ rifles has raised a question being discussed in my circle. For those of you with a 12.6 how may 12.6 guns do you own and do you shoot them? Do you own 12.6 guns that you would not own if they weren't a 12.6? I know I have a couple dozen that I don't shoot and if they weren't a 12.6 gun I would probably never have bought them...they just come along every now and then and I pick some up as curios. Many i've never fired.

I have lots of 12(6) and shoot them whenever I can. Last year in the fall I packed 2 cases, one with .32's the other with 9mm's for a ladies league shoot at our range. All of the .32's were 12(6) (Of course) and about half of the 9mm's were.

How may 12.6 guns do you own? - Many.
Do you shoot them? - I regularly shoot 25% of them providing I can find the ammo.
Do you own 12.6 guns that you would not own if they weren't a 12.6? - Yes, about 25% of my 12.6 were purchased because they were cheap and in some cases poor condition. I enjoy fixing them up and if I screw it up it's not a huge loss as they will be slated for destruction. I also bought some specifically for 12.7 eligibility.

Quanity changes all the time, good ones sell good, poor not so much, my main shooter is a 4 in s-w 19 or a colt 357 model also 4 inch. Shoot 6 inch way less than the short ones.
Old eyes work better with short sight radius and I can shot a 4 inch into the same group as a 6 inch
really liked a 3 inch ss ruger security six 357, but someone just had to have it at last gunshow. I also like PPK,s and the little beretta 950 s.a. 22 short , seem to get a lot of them.
but they are not target guns.
Have a little Hi Standard derringer on the way to me also, 22lr, had a 22mag also, could hit the barn if you are real close, will have to see if the 22lr is any better.
Years ago I would buy crap for a few $, but passed that stage.

A lot of guys dumped guns when the 12-6 came out I kept mine and bought a few at fire sale give away prices. To save us the government claimed they were all bad and a lot of guys panicked and bought into it. I shoot mine all the time all are high quality sw wheel guns 22, 32, 38, 357 and 44mag . The whole 12-6 thing is a joke I can own a 50 cal but a 32 is bad and I/4 inch on a barrel makes it good or bad . I am in the process of getting a AR15 just because they don't want me to have it,

I try and shoot all of mine a few times a season. There are some that get used more than others and yes.....I have 10 or more that I bought simply because they were 12.6 and wanted to round aout a series like my 629's & 686's in all the OEM barrel lengths etc.

Shooting my 12.6 handguns constitutes about 5-8% of my shooting per year on average. Percentage fluctuates depending on what is happening in my life. But they still get shot regularly.

I only have one. Shoot it maybe once a year only bought it cause it was $100 . I enjoy my duty size pistols more but I'm keeping my 12.6 until I can't shoot anymore.

I have what I feel is a decent number of 12(6)'s - the beauty is that they don't take up too much room in the safe! I shoot them quite regularly - I always take a couple to the range with me any time I go, and I always give the young guys a chance to shoot the forbidden fruit that they can't own. It's easy to accumulate them, since the relatively small number of us that have the license mean that the market is fairly soft for most prohibs. A lot of them are $100 guns and if they were valued at $500 I wouldn't own them. I've had several of them since before they were prohib, and the rest have been accumulated over the past few years off the EE and auctions.

Eventually, there will only be a handful of us left with 1000's of these little guys!

I have increased my 12.6 count over the past year, and I shoot the .38 revolvers with the 4" barrels the most, followed by the 2" snub nose. Since I reload for the .32 auto and cast my own bullets for them they are cheap to shoot, but the brass retrieval makes them more of a pain. I do plan to get some more, and I also let the young'uns shoot the "forbidden fruit" whenever possible.

Stupid laws.

12(6)....

I've got 12(6) and a few in the category. These days I tend to own ones that I will use/shoot.

If one comes up for sale & piques my interest I'll pick it up.

One I recently fished off the EE. It was put up for sale without a mag or grips. But I had spares, so making it workable was not an issue. Being a 12(6) with 12(7) eligibility also made it attractive. And the price was right, too.

That colt is real nice, have had a few like that and the little 25acp.
While we are on 12-6, In the last month , I have got two s-w 39's in 9mm, both -2
One was a estate gun ,and still on the green slip, so while I was verifying it, I found out that it measured 105.3mm, not the 102 as all of these are listed as , if they have not been checked.
I later I measured the other and it was just over, 105.1-2mm
talked to the Lab boys and they have a FRT # for these 39's as a lot of them are over the limit and are reclassified as restricted and barrel will be listed as106mm
So if you have one of these , check them., they are real nice shooters , I was impressed one the nice tight groups I got out of the one I shot. have not shot the other one.
