Canada is never, ever going to stop killing seals: Your tell-all guide to the seal hunt

Hunting seals may ignite outrage abroad, but it is one of the few issues supported by virtually every Canadian MP, regardless of region or party

Long article with many pics, best to read at website.

Could you imagine if they used guns? Seal hunt would never be the same.

At least it's not cruel like hunting with a Spear which is so illegal in Canada.

I have no issue with a seal kill. Way too many and they need thinning out. I'm sure it drives the grass eaters absolutely crazy!!!!!

I sold a Winchester .243 heavy barrel to a Nefy one time and later he told me he got hired on a boat to shot seals they supplied the ammo.He said it took a while to get used to a rocking boat and shooting. Also he got paid by the seal.Cheers

A total waste of time. For all economic damage done to Canada's brand in Europe and worldwide the economic value of this hunt is a paltry -1 million. And the cost to rescue them a few years back was several times that.

It's akin to the Japanese whalers. We get all riled up by outsiders telling us to what to do while in reality without government support it would die.

They should start shooting sea lions in the Strait of Georgia in BC.
There are thousands of them and they are creating environmental
issues.

It always surprises me how hypocritical people can be. On one hand the "environmentalists " claim to support sustainability, while on the other scream bloody murder over what is the epitome of a sustainable, renewable resource. The replacement for fur and leather is synthetic fibres that are made from petroleum and never break down. As far as comparing this to whaling, that is a stretch when you consider the numbers, as well as recovery potential.
