I am considering picking up a lever rifle but being left handed I’d like to make a well informed decision. What would be my best options for rim fire and centre fire lever rifles for left handed shooters? With it being a lever I would be ok with open sights.

If you want a thumper, a Marlin 1895 in .45-70 will take care of all your lever gun hunting needs. If you don't want or need anything capable of stopping a charging bison, then a Marlin or Winchester in .30-30 will do just fine. As a lefty myself, I've found these rifles to be perfectly alright. The only thing I've done is to put aperture sights on them.

I like my BLR 81 in 308 works great for me , don't like the newer ones.
I'm a left handed shooter, I like the straight grip ones. My wife has a newer pistol grip one , with the rebounding hammer,
Just doesn't seem to look right to me or feel right to me.
I have used mine on deer, bear, coyotes
I have a scope on mine and can use pointed bullets.

another lefty here, and another vote for the 1895 in 45-70. It's a great little package with a whole lot of thump.

Never noticed, so I guess it hasn't been an issue!
Marlin all the way! but ensure it is a JM stamped marlin.. Far better quality and will only rise in price... Winchesters work but are weak and rattle.. The BLR's are nice but ugly..lol Im a lefty and found that with practice their is no right handed gun you cant operate.. Good luck

I am left handed and have a m94 and have shot a marlin 45/70. This isn't an issue. Most semi autos this isn't a problem either. Not sure why left handed people think they can only use left handed guns.

I have never had a problem with shell casings hitting me even with a semi auto 243 that I shoot, or a sks
I’m right handed for most stuff but left eye dominant , I just seems natural to shoot left handed for me.

Like many others you are unaware of critical fact here....
Shooting left handed with right handed firearm that has ejection port on the right side exposes you to great danger in case of catastrophic case failure!!!
Why left handed shooters like me should be exposed to greater risks than right handed shooters???
I had a right handed shotgun and while hunting I cycled after pulling the trigger but the shell handed fully fired. I still have the plastic casing that was ripped open. Thankfully I wasn’t injured but I was very lucky. That is why I am cautious and asking advice on what is a safe lever for left handed shooters.

Winchesters. The new Miroku ones for centrefire. Browning BL22 or a 9422 for rimfire. Shot lots left-handed never had a problem.

I shoot left hand and had lots of rifles over the years, savage 99, blr's, marlin 336, winny 94's was the only one that wouldn't put brass in my face but flying brass was never an issue, but what gunrunner8 said has got me thinking about case failure
Same here and a ton of semi's if we add the shotguns in. I would be shocked if well over 500,000 rounds never flew by my face and never an issue

that's because it Doesn't exist- if you have your cheek on the cheekpiece and proper in the crook of your shoulder, your face is NOWHERE NEAR the ejection port- I've got about 50 odd years under my belt, and i started off with a savage 99, joined by a remy 742. a good half dozen m14s and a bar 338- all right handed- and i'm left handed left eye dominant, and I've had a case separation in one of the m14s-bad brass- so i KNOW whereof i speak- i started shooting in 1965 -one other point- the military, when you join, issues you a rifle- THERE IS NO RIGHT HAND /LEFTHAND bull ship-and that's the rifle you will use until something goes wrong and you return it to q/m stores- they don't give 2c about and your preferences-so it's a NON-ISSUE-

As mentioned, winchester 1892 and 1886 are both top eject over the shoulder and the Miroku guns have the tang safety(love it or hate it) that is fully ambidextrous. I have both and love my Miroku 1892 in 44 magnum. Light, accurate, exquisitely made and buttery smooth to operate.
