what is the best lever action rife action?

I like the henrys but i also like side loading which henry doesnt offer
Looks wise the 73 and 92 were the best

Thisis like asking what full size truck is the best. Answers will be swayed by personal tastes

I would interpret 'best', to mean, if not defined in the question, to ask what is thought to be the most reliable, least complicated action that comes with desirable features/functions and cartridge options.

but again, it's an open ended question for the person responding to define what 'best' means to them. to share what they think is the best and why they think it is the best. then the OP distills from that what they will. it helps give perspective to learn from. :)

I like the 86 the best but some find them bit heavy.I also have a 66 , a 73 and a 95.I also like the 92 as it is a small version of the 86 .I find the 86 and the 92 for me have the smoothest action and carry well.It also depends if you want to scope them as the top eject like the 86 etc Don t scope well

I have a 1860, '66, '73 and have had half doven '92's a few 94's and currently have only 2 336's. Of the lot I have owned I would go with the 92 for pistol cartridges and 336 for rifle cartridges. Both smooth as snot actions and very reliable. That said I would like to get hands on a 71/86 at some point.

You're asking what's the best lever rifle, but best lever rifle for what job? Same as asking what's the best truck, is it for delivering groceries, loads of lumber or road gravel? What's the best jacket, is it for summer, winter or fall?

I mean the actual action, of tubular magazine lever rifles...66? 73? 85? 86? 92? 94? 95? 336? Henry? Other?

BLR doesn't count as it doesn't have a tubular magazine.

Anything from Marlin JM stamped of course.. Dont count Winchesters as he never designed any rifle.. so lets call them Brownings.. they are nice but weak in rifle cartridges

I've never hunted with either of mine but off the top of my head I'd say the 94 for packing around but the Marlin 336 for slick action and scopeability (if that is a word).
