Can anyone recommend a shop that can do heel engravings on M14's?

I've got a Norc with the markings on the side, but as part of my E2 clone, want to get them scrubbed and moved to the heel.
Cheers!

Personally i don't have any problem with people marking their property any way they like, as long as its legal. But then again, i make repro rifles, and correct markings are part of that.

Here is a picture of a heel i did on a M14 IDF sniper. I left the original serial number on the side.

I just got a reply to my email from Vulcan;

Ryan:
Good Day.
We've been doing a lot of these lately.
Cost is $300.00 plus Tax and Shipping but this does NOT include any Parkerizing as many Customers do their own Parkerizing. The Parkerizing must be redone because the new Markings are Burned into the Steel with a Laser so it must be Sandblasted and reParked, which we can do if needed.
Cost to repark just the Receiver is $75.00. If it's a Barreled Receiver it will cost $125.00. Park comes out a nice dark Grey.
We have another Process which we call the "Double Dip" meaning we Park everything and then send to a Black Oxide (Bluing) Shop where they dip it into Black Oxide and it comes out Jet Black. Looks great.
This is an additional Process for which we charge an extra $50.00-$100.00, depending on how many Parts are involved.
Turnaround Time is approx. 4-6 weeks as the Black Oxide Shop is always very busy so we must wait to get in. Plus, we are very busy as well.
All Work fully Garranteed. Federally Licensed. Many references.
Please advise.
Thanks.............Nick.

Sounds very reasonable for the work being done, mind you that's prices for M14, so it may be bit cheaper for the AR lower.

Umm... Did someone with M14 experience look at it? Bolts often need to be fitted. It would be unusual a GI bolt could not be lapped in and fitted.

Actually i have found quite a few Norc receivers that wouldn't accept a usgi bolt without excessive lapping. Given the thin heat treating on the bolts, this needs to be approached with caution.

On the good side, for those receivers that can fit one, you usualljy get headspace much tighter than the norm, if that is something you are trying to achieve. At least thats my experience.

Typically when a bolt is lapped, it's the receiver seats that wear, not the bolt which wears very little. Also, bolt surface hardness is about wear resistance. The strength comes from the core toughness. I've never seen a bolt fail from lapping operations, but who knows. There's a first for everything.
