Petition to stop the CBSA from stealing your folding Knives!

You don't seem to get it... It comes from higher up. If an officer were to knowingly disregard this, they face punishment up to and including termination depending on the circumstances. It needs to be taken to federal court, bottom line.

Not to mention we live in a country that at least ostensibly believes in the rule of law, where it isn't the prerogative of front line law enforcement to make up the law as they go along.

I have said before, this entire thing is based on a very stupid ruling by the CITT, which was based on another equally stupid ruling by the CITT which is making a very stupid interpretation of the wording of the criminal code such that they are now saying that basically any folding knife is a flick knife or a switchblade.

To boil it down, it basically comes from the CITT's idiotic ruling that a "flipper" on the back of a knife blade is actually a switch/button/device in or attached to the handle because it protrudes out the back of the handle and passes through it in operation. This ruling led to the second ruling which somehow decided that if you can flick open a knife after some "minimal manipulation" of the blade, it's a prohibited flick knife. Obviously these rulings are exceptionally stupid and nonsensical, but these are the rulings the CITT has put in place, not the CBSA. CBSA is merely obliged to follow them by operation of law. It's stupid that any knife is prohibited at all - there's zero legitimate reason for it, but you can't blame the law enforcement officers for stupid laws, blame the politicians and tribunals that make them.

Remember, this is what we don't want to be degraded to by letting this stuff continue:

The crap that's going down these days is a disgrace.

Without CBSA minions the CITT wouldn't have any teeth, it pains me to read about frontline guys and gals just doing their jobs. Non-compliance and civil disobedience needs to start happening higher up, I chose to stay away from a career in law enforcement because I didn't want anything to do with stupid restrictions like these. I wouldn't sleep right at night knowing I had to uphold unjust rulings, there are plenty of other honourable careers out there.

Horrified! I'm horrified that people like that are allowed to have kids. Heck; birthing the dang kid is dangerous! What a stupid story. When I was 10, I was shooting my .22 unsupervised in the back yard of our rural acreage.

Got a letter today from CBSA, They are holding my 10 dollar, weapon of mass destruction, from EBay, for 6-8 weeks !!! till they review it.. to see if such a weapon is safe in Canada!

Maybe we should all buy cheap folders (multiple times) to import and see how long CBSA can keep up! Any cheap ebay, amazon, allie folder would do. It would be worth the loss of a couple of bucks to see all the moaning and groaning.

I went through the process to contest their decision on a folder I bought... waste of time. In the end they sent me a registered letter saying that it had nothing to do with criminal code and it was all about their directorate. If someone can show me how to upload to a photo share site I would post it. Now that photo bucket went down I have tried a couple others but can't seem to get them to share either (imgur was one).
