Handgun for prohibition

I'm a new rpal holder and I don't have a handgun yet. I've been saving for one but I'm a bit worried about the potential ban from the liberals. Just for the sake of this post, let's say it does happen and current handgun owners are grandfathered. If this scenario occurs I want to be sure that I am included. On the other hand if it is confiscation without repayment I don't want to be out a pile of money.

I am interested in a pistol, no revolvers. Likely 9mm and try to keep it under $300-$350 for something off the EE. Does anyone have suggestions to something in that price range that would be a good entry level pistol.

Don't live in fear dude. I bought my first handgun in 1982, a HK P9S .45acp. Should have kept it, would have 12.6 today:( Anyway for your price range try a nice Ruger MK111 .22lr. For a centerfire in your price range maybe a Norinco, or just save up a little more and sky the limit. Good luck.

9mm in the $350 range the norinco np-22, np-34, and np-29 are all serviceable.
You could also look at a tt-33 in 7.62x25 or you could get one that is converted to 9mm. Another option is a norinco 1911 in .45

If Something happened and handguns were banned tomorrow I would be kicking myself...What I really want is a glock 34.

they cant 'ban' within a day... read up on how laws get enacted... look at c-71, and the latest bill/law for marijuana.

I obviously dont mean a literal day, but it takes a long time to make such an amendment in the criminal code... you'll have LOTS of forewarning if something does start as a "handgun ban" bill.

Sd9ve. A few in the EE for sale. Good gun to start with. And completly ignore the "trigger sucks" crowd. As far as ban talk...ignore the hype....but DO be responsible and support the gun orgs. Get active politically. In the meantime time, do what you want as the laws of the land allow and refuse to allow your government to make you fearful of your free choices as they stand

The progressives and anti gun ######s are counting on you to quiver and wet yourself and not get what you want. You did everything lawfully to get a legal license to purchase a legal firearm. No reason not to get one.
However though if you think 300 to 350 is a pile of money to risk then maybe you should think it over as that is really nothing on what you will end up spending once you do start down the handgun rabbit hole.

You may not want them all but get a revolver, semi-auto AND an AR so you have all your bases covered.
Maybe $1500 total if you go very bottom of the line. Even less if you just go with the stripped AR lower.

I don’t think $350 is a pile of money. That’s what I can risk losing if I get nothing. I don’t want to spend $1000 on something now to have it devalued if there are legislation changes.

I think that for the money, get a Norinco .45 ACP and a .22 LR conversion kit like a GSG. For around $600.00 or less you have a reliable center fire platform and a cheap to shoot rimfire in one package. Maybe the prices are a bit more these days, but the general idea is the same.

The reason everyone left leaning is so worked up is because the number of restricted firearms owned by Canadians has risen. If you want one, buy one. You likely wouldn’t lose much money, if you later wanted to trade up to a more expensive gun; they hold their value well. Plus, it would mean one more restricted gun owner to make liberals cry.

Don't forget the Norinco NZ 85; nice CZ clone. Love mine; great trigger, good double action pull too.

Poor mentality if you want to actually enjoy this hobby. There's always knitting.

Really? I'm trying to make a good interim decision and ask for advice and this is the response you have. If you don't have anything constructive to contribute don't say anything and move on instead of putting people down because of how they manage their money. Go troll somewhere else.

Good to hear you have followed the process to become a legal and responsible firearms user and hope to be owner. Dont be pressured to make uneducated decisions. Do a bit of research and decide what you want. Be excited and enjoy the moment. I am a long time firearms owner and have also just went through the process to purchase a handgun(Glock 17, Gen 5). Yes i was very anxious to finally get it so i could start shooting at our local club. I enjoyed the experience and i am loving my new pastime. Do not let the dimwits push you. Remember to stay safe and shoot straight
