So I was shooting my P8A1 ( USP 9mm for German military), and this just happened out of blue without warning...

First I noticed the gun FTE, which never happened with non-reloaded ammo in its 3500 round count.

And when I cycled the slide, this piece just flew out ... lol

It is a catastrophic failure to me. Although it's a tiny part, but when its missing it is impossible to assemble the gun, let alone firing.

It was unbelievable at first... With HK's " No Compromise" slogan, I'd never expected this to happen to any gun, particularly not a H&K.

Just add this as a disclaimer, I only using it punching holes in paper, nothing heavy duty use at all. But I had have shot it a lot.

And things only get worse from this point.

The whole slide needs to be replaced!
And H&K only has 2 years warranty (Start counting when Its shipped out of HK factory in Germany, not when It's in your hands, so Its more like 1 year warranty to end users) for products in Canadian market. Whereas in USA its lifetime.

Can't say I'm not disappointed, since I'd pay out of pocket and It will probably take 12 month for NS to get a replacement slide.

I do hope It's a rare occurrance with HK products, as I do have a HK MR223 and now I'm paranoid about that...

So what do guys think of H&K and do you have any experience with quality brand guns just fail on you completely? plz share it will make me feel better lol

Information Update: direct quote from my reply:

I dropped it on the ground from waist height at my house the day before I went to the range. gun was dropped as a whole, and unloaded. it slipped off my hand

Well for the record I've owned plenty of HK guns and this is the first I've seen this type of failure. It's not beyond comprehension for there to be a manufacturing defect in a single pistol. The P8 has been out for awhile, & this is the first I"ve seen something like that here. Don't panic, contact NS and see what they can do?

BTW what ammo where you using?

Weird, I've got 3 USP's (the newest being from 2011) and none have shown signs of failure like that.

Pretty much, wish ya luck!

Contacted NS, pretty much I'd pay myself and wait for a year for it... lol typical HK timeline for Canadians.

just CCI blazer 9mm or PMC 9MM. Never ran +P stuff as I just can't find any in Canada

Also I found one guy had same failure as mine in a U.S. forum, but guess he is covered by HK USA.

I'm flabbergasted to see this happened but again, when you compare 20+ years old HK products to the newer stuff, one can see an obvious difference in the quality of metal. It's even more obvious when I put my 41 years old P220 (1977) beside any of my newer Sigs. Seems like even reputed gun makers are using weird metal alloys, pot steel and zamak nowadays.

...

It's a slogan, it's not gospel. People need to stop taking slogans so literally, and everything breaks.

What do you mean : "pretty much I'd pay myself?"

This is not covered by Canadian warranty?

If correct then that is a very poor warranty. Should be from the time that the owner takes possession.

I'm sorry about this issue OP I'd be Pi$$ed
