Savage 10fp .308 muzzle brake

Depends on where you are. It'll need installing too. Usually by having the muzzle threaded. That requires a smithy who can also provide the break.

I live in B.C and I am only putting a brake on so the girlfriend will start shooting it with me more often!!! I also would like a tactical looking brake!!

Thanx

A towel in front of the shoulder.
A Past recoil pad
Reduced loads (lower the bullet weight first)
All others mentioned here are to be added to the options you have.
The best would be a lighter caliber. I know few women who like 308.
A brake would be the most expensive and the least recommended.

You could get a great shooting 223 for less than the cost of the brake and installation. Low recoil and super cheap ammo. Pick up a stevens 200 and she'll probably be outshooting you by the end of the summer. ;)

If she is just an excuse for spending money on your 308 to make it louder and harder to resell, then man up and say so. :p

I'll have to vote for the brake option. Just got my Savage BVSS in 300wsm set up with one. Went to the range yesterday and shot my best groups ever and the gun was an absolute pleasure to shoot. I had a 22-250 with me as well and the recoil from the mag was no different than the 22-250. It was loud though:D

I know many out there do not like them but I am often the only one out at my range when I go so its not bothering anyone and frankly I'd rather have reduced recoil than a sore shoulder. At my age I no longer feel the need to prove my machismo. I'll let my teeny tiny groups speak for me.

If I was buying a high recoil savage I'd consider the AK version with the muzzle break that can be turned on or off as needed.

Powdergun, what type of brake did you have installed?

well as for brakeing it for the girl why not buy her a gun she can shoot comfortly ? Stevens 200 in 223 is defintly a cheap enough option in comparison to a brake and she will have the "i did it all by myself with MY gun" feeling afterwards *which usualy leads to vigoruis horizontal thank yous;)

if you want the brake for you or for LCF then i recomend the tactical style with the gills on the sides so as to keep the debris down

There's no LCF with a braked .308. More like LDF - Look Dumb Factor. My LE2B is 14 lbs all up with scope and bipod. On reactive targets you can see the strike easily. Follow through has everythign to do with your trigger finger and zero to do with having a brake. They're noisy and unnecessary for a small caliber rifle.

Get the girlfriend her own rifle in 223 or a PAST recoil shield and let her shoot your rifle.

I have owned a Dlask ,Kline & Gunther and a KDF recoil reducer on different .308 Remington rifles over the years.I have never noticed much reduction in recoil in this calibre with a brake.I have on larger calibres thought.I think a good recoil pad is a cheaper and better addition.
