Stag 10 scope and rings: What do you guys like?

Depends if it's for carry hunting or table top shooting.

I have a P.E.P.R. with a 1-4x25 I setup for some fun and a 4-16x44 on a low tactical ring set from either Vortex or Burris for when I want to reach out. Subject to change once testing and results are gathered.
 
I had a Sightron 1-7 in a Bobro mount initially. Now I've mounted a Bushnell LRHS 4-5-18 in ATRS Rings. Weighs 10 pounds even and balances well, still need a range visit to confirm.
 
American Defence Recon's on all my AR's. Sits the glass up a little higher. If you plan on bench shooting, you may want something lower unless you have an adjustable stock like a PRS. I've got mine adjusted up pretty high to allow for a good cheek weld.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between “hunting scopes” and “bench rest scopes”?
 
Mine (currently) wears a Bushnell SMRS 1-8.5x 24mm in ARMS 34mm QD rings.

I setup my Stag 10 for hunting. I wanted to keep weight down. I put a Vortex HD LH 3-15x42 with the HSR-4 reticle. I can't find quality 1" rings that are lightweight and tall enough, so I put it in a Aero Precision Cantilever mount.

It depends on the person, location, game, and what you plan to hunt. 3-9x40+ is a known standard.

You usually want a lighter setup for hunting if you're moving around, smaller optic without all the add-ons, for example. I don't have many places I can shoot that provide more than 300m of open space.

However for shooting groundhogs at the farm I still tend to use higher power scopes, even on my rimfires. I don't move around much as I have 3 or 4 spots I typically set up at. Then just wait, whistle, and see who pops up. Repeat for a while, have a snack, move to the next spot when they catch on and stop sun bathing.

A scope that was going to be used only for bench rest target scopes would likely be higher magnification and have target turrets - open to the world with no protective caps. Hunting scope usually has protective caps for the adjustment turrets.

Really depends what you plan on doing with your Stag 10 and how you have it configured.

For low cost simple but reliable scopes with glass that I really like and a reticle I like, I tend to go with Burris.

I was planning on using one of my Burris E1 3-9X scopes in a quick release mount. However that has now changed....

The Stag 10 configured the way I have mine with a 20" hybrid contour (medium), light 12" handguard and Sopmod stock is capable of being used for hunting, tactical/target shooting. I'm still waiting for my barrel, they sent the stainless one instead of the nitride.

Anyways, the plan now is to use a Burris 3-15 Veracity FFP scope. It seems to suit the purpose I'm going for.

As it turns out.... Dante sports has a sale right now where you get an E1 4.5-14x for free with the Veracity. I have another AR308 that could use that scope. So it works out well.
