So i bought my first handgun last week (M&P9 2.0) and since the local gunshop is mostly hunting rifle and shotgun i can't really go to the store to feel each pistol and pick the one i like better. So figured i had to buy both Glock and M&P to settle my dilema between which one id like best.

So now my question is, as a first Glock what would you guys recommend?? Should i grab a standart Glock 17 or go with the 19x?? Is there even a reason to grab a 19x over a 17 at all? (exept look, damn that 19x is ###y) I mean we can't conceal carry so i really only see negative to a smaller pistol (less accurate, more recoil, fugly protruding barrel) Id like to hear your opinion guys!

I love my 17 gen 5
At least if ever you want to dip into action shooting competitions, let’s face it the slightly longer sight radius won’t hurt.

I like the new Glocks because there are no finger grooves. I find that molded finger grooves serve to force your fingers where you don't want them to be. Since I already have a full sized Glock, I went with the 19X because it's different. I don't like long protruding barrels either (thanks stupid, pointless Canadian gun laws), but at least the 19X barrel is minimally so.

You really need to try the 19x. Don’t knock the big grip and short slide till you do. A lot of reviewers have come around to it.
I tried both the 17 gen 5 and the 19x. I own the 19x now.

If you think the 19x looks better (even with the Pinicchio), go for it. It will be practically identical to the 17 for Canadian purposes. I still frankly can't understand the conceptual need behind the 19x but some do and like it a lot so have at 'er.

I would go with the G17 gen5. I like my guns in black or stainless, not a fan of the FDE.

Besides, I personally see no point in the shorter barrel/slide.

What made choose the 19x over the 17?

If you're only going to own one Glock, make it a 19

Why? What reason would you grab a G19 over a G17? Also it might not be the only glock ill own, i was trying to settle my Glock vs M&P dilema by buying both but if i end up liking the glock better he might not be alone for long

Because the 19 is the perfect gun, and the 17 is only almost the perfect gun. The 19 might as well just be called the Glock "better looking, cooler 17 that fits better in your hand but does all the same things"

Personally the G17 fits better in my hand. With the G19, the bottom of my palm and my pinky finger extend below the grip. I don't get a good firm hold on it.

Besides the G19 Canadian version is a gen4 (with the finger grooves).

Finally I don't like the barrel sticking out on the G19 and G19x. So for me its G17 all the way.

But even better, I'm actually leaning towards a Walther or a H&K.

19x hands down.

The short slide points quickly and the long grip makes it more manageable than the straight 19.

If u can live with the turd brown color...

Didnt they annouce a black 19x a little while ago?? Anyway the color is not so bad make something different.

Ill see on which one i get a deal on it first. Seems like many people like the 19 platform and there not much difference. Its really not for any kind of competition i plan to use it for plinking if i end up keeping it over the M&P. If i ever want to do competition of any kind (highly doupt it will happen) id probably grab a pistol built to compete like a Sig X5 or a CZ SHadow

I love my 17, Gen 5. It is my first. I would love to make my second the 19X , Gen 5.
If only my bank account could handle it!
Good luck! Im sure whatever you choose, it is meant to be
