Man dies following hunting accident in Nova Scotia: RCMP

Shooting at noises. Hunter should be found guilty of manslaughter (the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.) - or at the very least criminal negligence causing death. No deer is worth this.

Do they wear hunter orange in NS?

Yes we have to wear an orange vest and hat so there is no excuse for this accident.

About 10 years ago i was sitting on a log at day break near a brook with choppings either side so a lot of trees were blown down all around me. A half hr after daylight i heard cracking coming up the creek so i got ready, saw some brown motion but waited till a clear shot.

Out walked a moron in full camo with a rifle from the mess of blowdowns, crosshairs were on his head, safety off.

I had some strong words for that idiot.

There's morons everywhere

If I came out of the bush and some qwack facker had his + hairs on me, you can be sure I'd be doing the strong words.

And I agree with your last sentence.

But I offended the family apparently for asking. How the F can you mistake a man for a deer?

2 weeks ago. A 71 year old man was shot in the legs. When someone picked up a rifle at the hunt camp.

I think you need a set of binoculars, and he was the moron you say???

Condolences to the family of the deceased but also to the poor guy who pulled the trigger. He will live with this horror and guilt for the rest of his life and is going to need some serious counseling. two families lives shattered by this one event. Tragic.

In similar accidents, I've always wondered what part of the animal was being aimed at. Chilling to think about this event.

My wife and co-workers that don't hunt often ask, aren't you afraid of the animals in the woods. My response is always, "No - I'm only afraid of other humans in the woods."

Wow, you are a moron. The first step is admitting it.

Many years ago, an Ontario hunt camp returned at lunch to find that one of their members had shot himself in the camp, they later discovered another member dead on the trail to camp... he had been shot through the heart by the fella that committed suicide. He knew that his mistake was not something he could live with... tragic.

In another local incident the father and uncle of a 17 year old boy shot at what they thought was a deer coming out of the bush, only to discover that they had killed the boy... only one bullet through the heart... it was never determined which bullet had killed him... but again, many shattered lives.

Be careful out there... be SURE of your target and background.

meanwhile.....
there's a guy from lone butte bc in kelowna hospital right now from a self inflicted gun shot wound..... Haven't seen it in any news yet....
Does not have a PAL , but was in his yard killing chickens and decided he would use a .22LR rifle instead of a hatchet..... shot himself in the wrist somehow..... it's a bad one.
Apparently the rcmp removed other firearms from his property as well but his wife says the rcmp told them if someone they know has a PAL the firearms "might" be returned...... kinda scratched my head there.
personally.... I think his kid shot him , considering how hard it would be to shoot oneself in the wrist with a rifle but thier story is that he shot himself by accident LOL

Some folks just should not have firearms..... period
