I would have gone with a .223, but it seems .300 Win Mag finds some favour too, and you definitely don't want to be under gunned. Do you guys think a premium bullet like a partition or TSX would be best? Or just stick to the Woodleighs like the locals do?

Same thing I use for annoying retrievers and those little yappy things. .223. I trust most get what little humor there is in this post.

With their smaller size, and paws, I think anything bigger than a youth model .22lr would be too much for a cat...

Cats generally don't do much shooting though, in the animal kingdom a cat's lack of empathy makes it much more suited to a command role.

Cats make good officers such as commanders, and generals, as a cat does not view sacrificing those under their command with a moral or ethical viewpoints.

All hail our feline overlords.

I like to use the heaviest caliber and most frangible bullet available. So far it has ranged from bow to 12ga. but I'm still trying to expand my horizons.

I've dumped most feral cats with my Cooey 39 over the years and have whacked a bunch using high power airguns. Beaned a few with centerfires but those were chance encounters out in the woods, not too far from dwellings. Best way to get the bastards is too set up a live catch trap in the evening (With a little bit of fish placed in 'er fer bait.) then check the trap next morning. If the vermin be in there, a simple brain shot from a .22 using a long CB will finish the job. Then ye got goodies to use in the crab trap.;)
