So I picked up a Canuck regulator for the hell of it find the grip a little slippery, thinking about adding hockey tape or something Any thoughts on alternatives to hockey tape?

I saw a youtube vid of hickok45. He was shooting an 870 in the Regulator configuration. He had the same concern as you. He slipped on a hogue pistol grip. Looked like it fit really good, and solved his issue. I just bought a regulator as well. I really like it.

I seen that vid it's an option, but kinda might want the rustic look of tape.. Lol just I find hockey tape too sticky

I put double sided tape on my 870 Raptor grip, then wrapped it in silicone/rubber tape. Worked great.

I bought an M305 in the synthetic stock, and it felt greasy/slick to hold. Same with the Grizzly 12ga. A few bits of grip tape in strategic places and they're fine now.

Go to Canadian Tire.

Go to the RV section.

They sell grip tape for slippery metal trailer stairs. It works awesome on firearms.

This is the best upgrade, I did to my IPSC pistols. Should work for you too, IMHO
There is a lifetime amount of material in one roll.

Tape is fine if you're going for the apocalyptic look, but I would not want something that could peel off or unravel. Murphy's Law; if it can happen, assume it will.

Stippling is a proven method that works FANTASTIC. It will not come off, doesn't look rudimentary, and is super textured.

Skateboard grip tape works great. It’s cheap and if you get enough you will always have some on standby if needed. I have a roll here cuz I got tired of paying for the kids to re-grip their board every other day. You can get it in clear as well. It’s not crystal clear but pretty good.

This would look OK:

A firm grip on the front is important too.
