I'd say I've been close to buying steel targets over a dozen times...but never have. Centerfire OR rimfire. I'm usually plinking, ammo-testing/scope zeroing..or blasting gophers when budget allows for a trip west.
But, considering how much I enjoy long-range gophering...I'm wondering how much I might enjoy long-range steel targets. Not as much as gophers I'm sure, but fun to stretch-out the 22s sometimes...
I shoot on farms mostly, and they're not exactly groomed ranges where I can set a target low to the ground and hope to see it 100+ yards away. A round or square "gong" around 6" x 6" is what I'm thinking about, but I'm interested in seeing how you guys hang them...how high they ride off the ground, etc. If I can find an easy to carry/set-up system..I may call-up Range Rabbit in the new year and get something going.
Look forward to the replies, and photos if you have them!
Thanks!
