My rifle arrived a couple of days ago, from Frontier, so I assume it would be part of that latest production. Try as I may, I simply cannot find the chambering marked on it anywhere. Just old eyes? Where the heck is that info on the rifle?

Nobody noticed a chamber designation on their rifles? Wolverine? Gimme a hint?

According to the RCMP FRT the calibre should be 'marked on left side of upper assembly' (it is not marked on my early rifle) and 'usually marked on the barrel'. If it is on the barrel you would have to take the handguard off to see it I expect.

Early rifles were 223 Wylde (I suspect the first couple of hundred but John would have to confirm) -I sent mine back for a re-ream as it had a very tight Wylde chamber.

All other rifles are now 5.56

Thanks, only marks on the upper are brass marks from ejection. :) Nothing visible on the barrel no matter how carefully I check; only a couple of inches are not visible without removing the handguard and I haven't done that yet. I assumed that the designation should be visible without disassembly; I guess not.

The gun runs very well so far, so this is more a matter of curiosity than anything else. I'll eventually remove the handguard just to satisfy my OCD. :)

12:00 .. 3 in. back from flash hider
5.56NATO1:8
Mine was filled in with gunk..
I jumped the queue and grabbed one..not on a preorder list
I'm fairly happy..glad I bought when I had the chance:)

Thanks, got it! A couple inches back from the muzzle. 5.56Nato. Twist rate is there, can't quite make it out.

The combination of an extremely faint inscription and a barrel exterior so roughly machined that it could almost be used as a wood rasp make it pretty hard to spot. :) That's not a complaint, just a bit of a dig; I put another 60 rounds through the gun today and it is running like a top.

Mine is 05_ _-18
Something changed?? Did they buy different barrels with different dimensions??

They switched chambers from .223 Wylde to 5.56 NATO with the September 24th shipment. That's roughly 400 rifles into the run.

It was mentioned that some of the .223 Wylde reamers weren't producing chambers that were to spec.

There's also some issues with some common 5.56 rounds in .223 Wylde chambers.

Having to mortar your rifle to extract a live round (with the chance of the bullet getting stuck and pulling free) every time with some ammo isn't high on anyone's favourite activities, as it also means that you're probably getting overpressure due to zero freebore.

Some folks had no issues, others did. Myself, I sent my rifle in to have the chamber recut to 5.56.
