I had a few days to play around and shoot my WK180 and these are my biggest criticisms so far:
- Gas plug
It's a real pain to reinstall the gas plug under spring pressure while trying to keep everything aligned under the the handguard. A longer plug that pokes out of the handguard (and maybe a knurled end to hand tighten) would solve the issue quickly.
- Bolt handle
The charging handle is a little sloppy and the magnet fell out of the end. I contacted Kodiak but I was hoping for a tighter fit of the component. It's not a deal breaker, especially at the price point though and still functions fine
-Ammo issues
Out of a few different ammo brands, the only one that has given me issues is the Independence 5.56. It would fail to eject the spent cartridge and try to cycle the next one which would lead to a double feed. This led to all sorts of funky malfunctions to clear including having a casing get stuck between the guide rods. The issue only happened with the Independence ammo and stopped the moment anything else was used
-Ejection
Spent cases would eject at a clean 3 o'clock angle. I wish some sort of case deflector was machined in the upper to prevent brass kisses everywhere but this is a minor detail and for a $1000 rifle, I'm quite pleased with it nonetheless
