Wow, excellent response, thank you for the transparency Kodiak.
Try pushing it in from the other side. If the J-spring in the hammer flops over the pin gets forced to one side or looks like it is coming out.

Yeah that's what I did. I just wonder if that's a thing and if it'll come out every every 100 rounds, it was sticking out about an inch.
You Are the same guy with the Ruger PC carbine issue with the disintegrating bolt face
And now your WK is all messed up
What gives?
Is this B.S. ?
or are you just having horrible luck with firearms in the last few days?
The J spring on the hammer holds it in. If it happens again I would check that spring.

The back plate on mine (the takedown 'button' is a part of it) is incredibly tight inside the upper. I've oiled it well, but I still have to put a fair amount of force on it to get it in or out. Give it a good push inward with a screwdriver, then once it is open, put your hand over the back plate and slam the bolt carrier back into it to pop it out of the upper receiver.Anyone having issues field stripping there wks? Took mine to range today for the first time worked great but when I went to clean it the upper will not separate from the lower, any ideas or other people having this issue?
Give it a good push inward with a screwdriver,
This is true. Unfortunately, mine needed something with a little more grip for a little more persuasion the first time.It has a round divot in it so you can use a 223 round.....
I had my WK out to the range for the first time today and I was getting constant failures to extract. The empty casing would stay in the chamber and I would get a double feed on the next round.
Anyone else having this problem?

Were you using Independence 5.56 by any chance? I was running into the same issue but only with the one specific ammo
