Are these shells any good?

No idea what hunting regulations are in NS.
Here in ON hunting deer, black bear with buckshot is legal.

Easy to see in the Regs - perfectly legal in NS

Legal Weapons and Ammunition Big Game
1. During the general seasons for hunting deer, moose, and bear, holders of appropriate licences may use:
• a rifle and ammunition of .23 calibre or greater;
• a shotgun of .410, 28, 20, 16, 12, 10 gauge, using a single projectile; or buckshot having a diameter of 6.10 mm (.24 in.) or larger.

- FYI 00 buckshot is 8.38 mm

SSG's are a good 'personal defense' round as well......

Maybe you’re thinking their illegal because of waterfowl??? In any event, they are awesome deer loads and totally legal. Don't forget to take a moment to smell the awesomeness once you pull the trigger

Lol, I bought a box of ssg years ago when I was in my late teens. I had a somewhat heavy single shot twelve and was really nervous about firing them. Anyway, my cousin and I decided we'd go grouse hunting one day and, since I had a deer tag, I took the box of ssg with me.He had a bakial single 12 that was literally as light as a toy. We were walking down a wood road and came upon a fridge someone dumped. I thought, "what a great time to try the ssg" and said we should stand it up and hit her with a couple of these(as I pulled the box from my pocket. "Let's stand it up first ,I said. Once standing , I gave him an ssg and said, " go ahead, take a crack at it ". He asked, do they kick? Not a bit, I said, despite the fact I had never fired one because I was too chicken lol. But here I had my own personal Guinea pig.So he loads one up standing about 20 ft from the fridge and pulled the trigger. When the dust settled, the fridge was on it's side again and he was on his arse with eyes as big as soft balls. I almost choked to death laughing and he cursed me upside down. I still have the other 4 in the box lol.
