My new hunting rig, Tikka T3x

It's basically impossible for the turret to accidentally get moved from zero when you're packing it around.

Ok perfect just want to make sure :) Im also cant wait to get a turret to match my ammo. that will be perfect as I never was good at holdovers on the upside down X-mas tree reticles.

Just one man's opinion, but if I were looking at a T3x I'd also give the Sako A7 a look. You might find you're getting a lot more gun for a little more money.

Well I finally decided to upgrade my hunting rifle. Had a Ruger American for the last 5 years and I need something with a bit more class now ;)

So after weeks of research I settled on the Tikka T3x Laminated Stainless and a Leupold VX-5HD 3-15x44mm

Also thinking of ATLASWORXS BOTTOM METAL and the Leupold 2 piece rifle mount.

Anyone have any other suggestions for me before I start buying this stuff.

I just received my VX-5HD CDS ZL2 3-15x44 Impact 29 today...pretty impressed with it! Putting mine on a Nosler 48 Liberty in 30 Nosler :)

If he were buying a base model gun I'd agree, but someone buying a stainless/laminate gun generally isn't buying it because they plan on modifying it.

He’s literally asking for our suggestions on all of the aftermarket goodies to replace and/or add to the gun he’s already purchased.

How do you like the reticle?
I’m looking at this for my Tikka. Have Talley and DNZ mounts on my Tikkas both work fantastic.

1) They make the aftermarket part he's asking about for the A7 too. 2) I didn't realize he'd already bought it.

FWIW regarding the Mountain Tactical OEM plate - I contacted them last night regarding their flat rate shipping. Email reply in my inbox this morning - yes the $14.99 flat rate is shipped USPS. They ship daily to Canada.

Ordered a plate this morning, it shipped two hours later - great service!

I'm waiting for my talley rings so Idon't have it mounted yet ...originally I was thinking the reticle might be a bit on the fine side for low light hunting but the more I play with it I'm sure it will work just fine. The actual reticle is pretty much perfect as a all around do it all hunting/longrange/target reticle. Can't wait to get it mounted. :)

Warne doesnt show low rings on their website for the direct mount to dovetail base . Thats why I ordered the medium. But I saw on the tikka forum lots of 40mm bells with medium rings. Looks like Ill be pretty close with a 44mm.

Just curious, why the Atlasworx AICS bottom metal over the Mountain Tactical OEM plate? For a hunting gun, I find the OEM mags much lighter and handier.

Thoughts?

Patrick

The price of the OEM mags made my decision pretty easy. And I have a Bunch of 10 round AICS mags here. I like to shoot and the AICS mags will make it more fun.

I can put the factory plate and 3 round mag back on for hunting season if the 5 round AICS mag sticks out to far for my liking.

I guess its just more practical for me to use the same mags across different firearms. But the price of spare Tikka mags is insane even for me.

Which reticle are you going with?

Firedot :) I hope they have one in stock to look at .
