Heckler & Koch MR223A3 question

I finally received my MR223 A3 with 11" barrel. Has anyone re-profiled the barrel to match the 416 specs? I'm wondering if the work is worth while. I haven't had the chance to do any dynamic stuff with it yet since it almost -40 outdoors but it seems front heavy and am not sure if I like the balance.

Last time I heard someone do that, they had to buy a new barrel from HK.

I was thinking about that, but with how rare the rifles and parts are in Canada I rather not risk anything.

There appears to be many people in this thread looking to buy these rifles and to save from shock/disappointment, please note that these rifles, even with the 11 inch barrel and after market handguard, are heavy. Specifically front heavy.

I have a 14.5 and what im doing is i put on a Geissele handguard, no front sight, no forward grip. I took off the slim line stock and replaced with a heavier magpul STR. Also put on a LPVO. This makes it more balanced, but its certainly not light. Around 12lb
 
I went with the Geissele Handguard about a year ago with positive results. I really like the idea of rails only where needed on an otherwise slim Handguard design. It saves weight as well as reducing bulk. Aside from that, a fairly heavy Vortex PST II 1-6x helps to balance out the carbine. At the end of the day however, there is simply no getting around that heavy Match Chrome-lined Barrel and Short-Stroke Piston System for added weight up front. The MR223 is a front-heavy beast, but it is also without a doubt the best AR variant in existence! It would be the last AR that I would give up from my collection, right after my PWS carbines....

I dont understand why the 417 SMR is mlok but the 416 SMR isnt. Could shave a tiny bit of weight if direct attach mlok instead of pic rail then accessory.

Anyways, the lighter choice is the midwest industries handguard

Because the 417 one was just released. Unless I'm mistaken the 416 smr was the first rail geissele made. And odds are an mlok version will come out in the future.
