Shorten PAL Approval Times

I’d speak directly with the provincial cfo officer assigned to your file, cpic will show any encounters with law enforcement which can have you red flagged delaying the process for months. Speaking with the cfo officer, they can usually make a decision same day.

So i just called again today, the lady said to me exactly what it says online "our application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date" Literally read it word for word... I asked her if an officer was assigned to my file and if i could speak with them. She said no. I just dont even know what to do at this point...Do i need to call a different number to speak with my cfo officer? Its kinda nonsense...

So when it goes online, the next step is for them to scan your photo. Usually takes a week, not 6 months.
If I were you, I’d call them again. Tell them you have a question about your application. Then ask if you can give your name.
Ask if your photo has been scanned, and if they say yes, ask if your file has been transferred to your provinces CFO. If they say yes, ask for their extension number/ask to get transferred.

When i called the first and second time, they asked me for all my info... First last, dob, birth place... Its like they went on the same website i was on and inputted all the same info i just did lol.
OK sooooo just talked to another lady, i asked her those questions and yes my photo has been scanned but no it has not been transferred to my provinces CFO because its in the initial processing stage. I asked her if theres ANY information she can tell me about it and she said theres literally nothing on here because nobody has even looked at it. UGH

I hope someone more experienced can help you. I am still in my processing stage as well.

From what I’ve read here is that you have one option. And that is, to contact your MP (in person?). You should do that. They are our representatives of the federal government. Then you’ll get your license the next day.

Thank you though i appreciate the advice :)

I just checked my credit card statements and they didn't even take the money off my credit card until December 21st!!!!!!!!
So i think ill be well into February before i hear anything lol.

Called in, my application is now finally with a BC CFO officer. BUT they aren't able to ping them about it until it's been 90 days. BS.

So once it's assigned to a CFO officer, front-line information officers (Mirimachi?) can't reach-out / inquire directly for 3 whole months.

I wonder if next time I call in if I should just ask to be transferred to the voicemail for the CFO assigned to my file.

Ridiculous.

Just called in and it actually was just approved and issued this morning!! :)
Received application: August 31st 2018
Payment taken from credit card: December 21st 2018
Issued: February 5th 2019

6 months lol....wtg ontario

It's so unbelievably random!

Nov 9th received.
Paid Dec 6th.
Got through to the AB CFO today... was told it was just assigned a week ago... check back in 2 months... le sigh.

I got my RPAL in 2009 but due to circumstances, let it lapse. I only had one long gun so gave it to a friend to hang on to until I got my PAL renewed. Finally in a place to take up target shooting like I originally intended. I sent in the whole application again, I still had my PAL number so put that on and marked it as a renewal. I sent it about 3 weeks ago. Nothing showed up online yet so I called today. I got a very pleasant person that told me to call back in two weeks if I don't see it move online. I did ask them if since it was a renewal, if I had to go through the 28 day waiting period. She said yes. This is contradictory to what I have read elsewhere. It is a full application package again so maybe they just sort it in to the wait pile, even if it's a renewal. Anyone have more info on that? Also, any recent reports on wait times from BC?

Pal and rpal, BC:
2018 Nov 29th: Application sent via Canada Post
2019 Jan 8th: Application appeared online
2019 Jan 21st: Called in, told photo being scanned
2019 Jan 30th: Called in, application with bc cfo
2019 Feb 8th: Called bc cfo, a very nice lady picked up the phone, told me no one had done background check yet, and asked me if i would like her to do the background check during the call, i said yes pls, and waited about 6 mins untill she finished the background check and issued the liscence.

Should have called bc cfo earlier : /

I read the first post but this thread is from a long time ago, is there anything I should do now that is different that whats on the first post?

You have about 28-35 days for it to show up online. Maybe a week or two to get it issued after that.

Sent Jan. 21st
Website updated Feb 25th as received Jan. 28th
