Just my opinion, but I haven't been blown away by the Tikka rifles. They used to represent an excellent value, but their prices are butting up against the price of the Sako A7's now.

also, what trigger to put into the original Axis? I happen to have one in LH .270 Win that I’m giving to my son-in-law and likely help him fix the lousy trigger issue. :).

edit - my thought is buy whatever the best deal is. if it happens to be particularly cheep, putting in some recommended upgrades may make for the better rifle in the long-term.

Timney or Rifle Basix triggers will be a big improvement over the standard Axis trigger..
 
Just switched from Tikka T3 in 3006 to Howa Précision in same caliber. Could have purchased the Sako A7 for same price but preferred the HACT trigger . Time will tell.
 
I need a Howa short action (not the mini as I hate detachable mags on hunting rifles) in .223, sporter weight barrel, factory cerakoted. I don't care about the stock as it'll get a Boyds or B&C anyway. Anyone know if such a rifle is in stock anywhere in Canada?

Also stainless is cool but for the price difference maybe just get a howa 1500 or vanguard s2 blued. You will likely never rust the blueing. peace of mind worth 300-400 $? howa alpine or such models are awesome though. hard to find one in 223 theyre all sold out .
 
I literally just put a 1500 series 30 06 up for consignment. Does anyone have any input on how a cz 557 stacks up against howa? Im looking to switch mainly because of sights. I dont mean to hijack the the thread, its still howa related
 
I put together a Howa 1500 in a KRG Bravo for right around $1200. Super impressed with it. 1 piece bolt, integral recoil lug, tool less bolt take down, fluted barrel, M16 style extractor, 2 stage trigger that is very good (minus the over travel that was fixed easily) and it shoots great. Smooth action. Also very impressed with the KRG Bravo. Super comfy and rigid. Lots of options for add-ons as well. I had a CTR which i really liked but wasn't super impressed with the stock and if you upgrade it turns into a $2000+ gun. I built this for a hunting rig. 308 20" barrel.

I like the look of CZ's, they are definitely quality rifles.
I don't like that they use proprietary rings that cost around $100. Everytime I think I want one, I remember the rings....THE RINGS!!!
Someday maybe.
