Restricted storage question?

Price is not the issue. Rather the purpose of the cabinet/safe that’s the issue.
A 400$ gun safe that is sold as a gunsafe would be more acceptable than a 2000$ China cabinet/safe.

Speak for yourself. I have an electrical cabinet that is lockable. Letter from the CFO says it meets the definition of a safe. Maybe it’s you who chooses to not understand?

Trigger or cable lock your restricted and put in a $90 C.T safe in a false wall (hidden).
To the guys that think they are going to use a Restricted to defend their property or their life....ask Gerald Stanley how that went?

Which section of C-68 provides for using your restricted firearm for self-,defense?

Better off to use a non-restricted....
I still think if the courts wanted to, they would still hit you with the same/if not worse charges that Gerald Stanley got, even for using a non restricted to defend yourself. Every situation is different. But still worth it to defend yourself and family regardless of charges
But you can legally discharge a non- restricted outside of the approved range.....
The ONLY place you can n load and discharge a "restricted" legally is on a approved range.
There is no provision in the C.C to use a restricted firearm for self defense.
A farmer is allowed to use non-restricted to defend his property and animals from pests or predators....but not a restricted.
I only bring this up because I think some on here feel they would be justified in using a restricted handgun to defend their home.
Be ready to lose your guns for 10 years....

Well, not that anyone will do this but if you want to be 100% sure you are legal, get the cfo AND the rcmp to come look at your storage setup, if they sign off on it, you will be SAFE in court as well as at home! Find a knowledgeable rcmp to inspect as well as the cfo!

I dont plan nothing, i have a brand new Louiseville Slugger i bought in the state, i will be ok if i can swing once or twice, if something is to happen better be in NH everynight i load my Ruger Alaskan snubby 44 mag and it's just beside me on the night table.
Your going to use a flintlock pistol or blunderbuss for home-defense....I am confused?

If the laws were so clear cut, there wouldn’t be any need for lawyers.
So what makes a safe a safe. or even whether or not you should defend yourself and your family with a restricted, non-res or prohib, really depends on the reasonableness of your decision. Do what you think is right, and always err on the side of caution. When it comes to the lives and safety of your family, I assume you know which side to err on.
If they charge you, hire a lawyer and hope for the best.
What’s important is you enjoy our hobby now, or that you are alive to defend yourself in court, with all your family and loved ones healthy and present in court to support you.
Like anything in life, be reasonable.
