I can make a diaphragm work pretty good but figured "Hey, more tools in the tool box." One thing I can say after messing with it quite a bit is that to me it sounds a whole lot like a guy trying to sound like a turkey, but it sure does look cool.

Might work on late season birds who have heard all the more authentic calls.
 
I cant wait for the 25th. I’ll be heading up to the property on Sunday to start clearing the pathways and checking the cam. The last time I was up there, there was a group of 40-50 birds feeding about. I had over 3000 pictures on the game cam and went through each photo and isolated only 1 long beard, which is concerning. There were about a dozen jakes this year so this may have to be the year I fill a tag on a jake so I can replace the ratty looking fan Im currently using on my strutter deke.

As for decoys, I’m sticking with my Avian X feeder and laydown hen paired with my strutter jake on one blind and a breeder hen and 1/4 strut jake on the other blind. Im hoping to help a newer hunter get on his first bird, so thats really exciting

I’ll be pulling the trigger of a Mossberg 935 and will be shooting 3” Kent # 6’s.
 
I got the set of flex tone thunder series dekes to try this year. Might even get a turkey chair. Im on a road trip today in search of new boots. Have several stores to check out during my 700km round trip. See what other stuff i can buy as the wife is with me today and she knows of the 2 berettas that found their way into my gun room lol. Plus my daughter needs new camo as shes growing so fast
 
This gonna be a good spring hunt, so many turkey around the farm ( Prescott-Russell WMU65).

Today i will zero my Ravin 20 crossbow from the piknic table. Cant wait to put a gobbler to bed for the opening morning.

This is very exciting.

Hunting with a crossbow is cool.

Ok, i bought some pretty potent broadheads especially made for turkey hunting, they are called Rage Xtreme Turkey Broadhead.
 
My Ravin R20 is 0 at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 yds, this thing is a lazer hunting machine. I am ready to rummbblle...
 
Pattern your guns!!! My old mossberg that I like for Turkey is straight up deadly. Wasn't always that way

When I bought it brand new it wouldn't pattern very tight at any range with factory chokes and multiple kinds of ammo.

Bought a Kicks ported .655 choke for it and now with Winchester #5 Turkey loads it's very tight. Almost missed one at 8 yards last year but the pellets that did connect took half his head with it.

I have a browning maxus and an 870 shur shot Turkey but that old mossberg shoots too good
 
For cross bow hunting i use my regular deer deer up. I aim for the wing joint. They kick and hop and flap amd loose alot of feathers but never have gone more further than what they bounce. Give them longer before you walk up and try to tag one. I had a buddy run out to grab a fall hen that stopped moving. She was just pausing. He got kicked and went down like a fat kid on a cupcake. I still tease him of the day he got his azz whooped by a dead bird lol
Ive taken 10 or 12 with the bow now. Only one ever needed a finisher and thats because i wasnt going to risk gettin my azz whooped. Took a 40 yardish shot on a massive tom. Wind pushed my bolt a bit and i spiked him to the ground. His tail went up his wing went out. Two flaps and he laid there with his head up. I missed the wing joint and went low thru the breast bone. Still have it somewhere i think. Left a perfect tri blade and shaft design thru the bone. Anyway i walked up from behind his tail and shot him thru the base of his neck. Almost took his neck off. Never knew there was so much blood in a bird. I left a solid blood trail all the way back to the truck
 
Can't wait. Located them all yesterday while out on a 'yote hunt. Picked up a blind this winter so taking my 5, 8, and 9 year old out for there first turkey hunts. Got my first one last year (new to the sport), planning to take my bow along this year too, see if I can get one that way this year.

Upgraded my decoys to 3 avian x lcds (upright hen, laydown hen, 1/2 strut jake). My wife bought me the upright last year for my bday and it made my other decoys look terrible in comparison. So i sold those and bought the laydown hen/ jake combo. Only downside is that i will be afraid to shoot at anything within 10 feet of the decoys for fear of hitting one and ruining it!
 
I was out at the property today raking up the leaves from the pathways and where my blinds are located and the rustling of the leaves was triggering the gobbles in multiple directions. It didnt take long before a Tom came in. It snuck in while I was sending a text message and walked within 5 feet of me, close enough that I could have reached out and touched it with my rake. It slowly and calmly walked away when I moved to take a picture of it. If only it was that easy when the season is opened

He walked by my game cam before sneaking up on me. Here he is

That is good to hear... my Turkey landowners tell me that they are seeing lots of birds and strutting gobblers... too far to scout in advance, so I run and gun most days after the morning set-up.

If there are lots of birds, it certainly improves your chances, especially when you cant visit the property regularly to scout. Fortunately Im only about an hour and a half away and I have my game cam up and running from November until the end of the season, so I can take good inventory of whats around and what times are best. Makes all the difference in the world for my success especially since the property Im at isnt the kind of property you can spot and stalk. So 100% of my success is dependant on where to set up and what time

Theyre nice dekes but heavy. The flextones still look good and are extremely light and the stakes fold in and stay attached. The lcd avian strut jake is real nice. I thought bout picking one up dispite its weight. Ill see how the flextones work
 
The last 15 birds i got where from the same spot leaning on the same tree, there is so many birds on my land.

I have hunters that i permit to hunt 5 of them, they are nice peoples but no one hunt before i get my 2 birds, usually opening and the day after they all know that but they all get their Tom anyway.

Last year 11 birds were killed on my propriety, many are happy with a jake.

The flextones are real nice decoys. I really like the fact that they are light and that there is no playing around with stakes. Best bang for your buck as far as Im concerned
