Moose hunters threatened in Cape Breton Highlands

I find it interesting that we can't keep people off of our privately owned woodlots here, but these guys want to stop people from accessing crown lands.
A moose tag is a coveted thing here, with the lack of a priority system in the draw, lots pout in annually with no success for decades. To finally draw one and be harassed when you do get one is quite the insult.
DNR and their enforcement is a joke here though.

Personally, a threat is equal to an attack meaning i would have reacted as though they were actively setting fire to my vehicle and putting my life in danger. Both parties acted like a bunch of cowards and the aggressors will continue this nonsense until someone gives them a reason to stop threatening hunters.
Same as bullies in school, it'll continue until someone says enough is enough.....

I agree but if you are standing there with a gun pointed at you and you think of your wife and kids at home. Yeah enough is enough, swollow your pride and make it home to see them

Everyone is a hero on the internet. Reminds me of being young and brash at the bar, getting into a fight and then wondering what the hell for and if impressing that B grade bar girl was worth it if the other guy’s an idiot and a knife came out. A moose spot is no better reason. The smart people go home shaking their head and note all the details so the police can do their job.
The idiots fight, for the record my brother is that guy I speak from family experience. He ran a burglar’s truck off the road last month then fought him in the ditch in between their wrecked trucks. He ended up getting more charges than the thief. He’s still struggling at life and is always in court, but he sure sounds cool on the internet and at the bar.

You’re right best case he’d destroy property and be the one charged. Worst case he’d shoot or get shot and ruin his life for good either way. The guys that ran into the deliverance brothers of New Brunswick did it right, talk them down, leave and report it.
Absolutely the right approach. Once the testosterone subsides and rational thought once again begins to emerge the better course is usually taken. The locals were trying to run bunch of my son's buddies off one of the good fishing holes near Kitwanga (Skeena River). They said if any one threatened them any further or any damage to the trucks the RCMP would be informed. Everyone having a camera in their pockets these days makes the police's job a lot more clearly defined. That was the end of it. Given the present scenario developing in this area this approach would be the advisable one. It is a tough swallow at the time but works out better in the long run.

And then expecting the RCMP to handle it...which they didn’t.
So the bullies get empowerment from the lack of enforcement by the RCMP.
And so they continue their bullying ways.
They're cutting off their nose to spite their face. How many potential tourist hunter dollars have been lost by the antics of a few idiots? Outfitters aside, that's lost revenue for a multitude of businesses. Anyone supporting their actions needs to give their head a shake.

So it can get real. In another eastern province years ago a hard headed dude use to run off the local old boys who hunted there all there life. Dude died of lead poisoning while tied up. Rumor had it there was drugs involved. Never solved who done it?
