I have been reading the comments on the L9A1 and was curious if anyone has experience with the A2. I put a few mags through an A1 a few years back and really liked the grip angle and feel so I wouldn't mind getting my mitts around an A2.

They've ruined the beautiful lines of their handgun with a pointless beavertail and that bizarre revolver-like protruding rail. Totally changed their grip geometry to accommodate those gimmicky backstraps, too. I don't know what they were thinking.

^^^ I love the new styling. Think it looks great. If they've solved the extraction issues I've read so much about, I'm in.

Later (2012?) A1s has already solved the extraction issues. A2 looks like is all about addressing latest ergo trends and making sights more conventional.

Did they actually fix the extraction issues? I know a bunch of people that own L9A1 from a wide spectrum of later production dates. They all suck. Not one of them works 100% of the time. Hi Points are more reliable than Steyr pistols. I’m about to smash mine up, or turn it in at the next buy back to at least get something for it, then sell the holster and mags on the EE.

i have the original M9, I agree the later models did nothing for me. I believe only the first version of the M9 was built and assembled in austria, zero issues with mine.

Just put it on the ee. Why offer it up to the gov like that?

I bought an L9A1 as soon as they were available in 2013. It would eject brass directly into my face, and over time I'd start to get FTEs among other problems. Which is too bad, because it's still one of the most accurate handguns I'd ever shot. I had an M9A1 with the updated extractor and it would have FTEs too but at least it would fling the brass away from me.

All these new changes remove the unique style and ergonomics I loved about the Steyr in the first place. Very frustrating to think they may have fixed the reliability problems only to implement them in this newer, uglier, more expensive model.
