So I got a letter from CBSA regarding my latest Brownells order. They are holding it because the package contains an AR-15 magazine catch spring and a buffer tube assembly. I have to send them a copy of my RPAL in order for the package to be released. WTF?

Nothing new. I had a shipment held until I produced a copy of my firearms business licence because there were some 1911 magazine rubber bumper pads. That was over 20 years ago.

####, this might be why my Brownells order hasn't showed up yet...

When did your order go through? Tracking is showing that mine has been sitting at Customs since the 11th.

That is strange
I have a package from Brownells that says its out for delivery today, it also contains a magazine catch spring, a butt stock and a bunch of other lower parts and some vertical foregrips

Never have I ever been asked for anything like you are, I have ordered from Brownells at least 10 times

Send them the info and politely tell them for their information, there are non-restricted firearms that use that parts as well.

Ya that is the strange part, you do not need a PAL or RPAL to buy these parts in Canada. Non restricted or not, anyone can buy those without a gun lic

Those are not items controlled by any form of law are they? In this case wouldn't the lower be the only item that has any form of control and not the parts kit or any components of one?

Correct. Non-PAL holders can buy every part of an AR15 minus the lower receiver.

Now don't go trying to tell our overlords what they can and can't do - they make the rules now silly.

On a serious note just bought a Geissele 3 gun trigger (for one of those evil AR15s) and it turned up no issues.

I had a BCG and some trigger springs arrive last week with no issues/hold ups etc...

It was actually the first Brownells order of mine in a while that the CBSA didn't ding me the taxes/fees on. According to tracking it was in and out of customs the same day.

I think it just depends on their mood in the moment as there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

Weird, I had a bcg, lpk and buffer tube/spring arrive last week. Brownells also overcharged me on the CBSA declaration by $80 and then listed the items as "Suppressor/Sound Limiter".
